Cuteness overload....It's a bull

After the storms today I went out to check on Pepper and the calf...

They were fine and he was hidden in the wildflowers!

After she ate her grain she got him up to nurse...

I love the babies they are just too sweet!

He is so tiny...

Peek a boo

Michael chose to name him steak.
And yes when he is older he will be going in the freezer. For the time being I'll have fun taking photos!

After Pepper ate and the calf ate she took him away for some quiet time!

Lilly is very concerned about the baby calf. She watches from the other side of the fence and nickers to him constantly. I've never seen an equine do with a baby calf, she is infatuated with him.

I am glad we put Pepper and Steak in a section by themselves. Pepper seems to have calmed down and they are getting some quiet time together.

First Calf...

Pepper had her calf this afternoon....

We knew she was fix'in to calve. I had an idea she was calving this afternoon when she didn't come up but I left her alone! She did an awesome job and is an awesome Momma.

I told Fred it's nice to see your Dad's herd living on...Pepper came from his Dad's cows/bulls and now the legacy continues...

We aren't sure if it's a heifer or bull yet, Pepper is doing a great job of keeping it away from us! I had to move Pringle out of that section and put her in a different one. Pringle was trying to get the calf away from Pepper. We will leave Pepper and the calf in this section by themselves for a bit. Pringle was checked by the vet and is due in August.

So exciting to have babies around once again....
