Tugs, shrimpers, and Dolphins...

While we were walking up the walkway to the Lady Lex I noticed a shrimp boat in the ship channel fishing and saw dolphins following the boat...

By the time we got onto the Lady Lex and checked in I was afraid I missed a great photo op...I told Michael to hurry up and we walked to the bow of the Lex...I found a Huge Tug, the William H out of Houston, going into port and the shrimp boat still there with the dolphins...too cool. The shrimp boat is tiny compared to the big old Tug!

After I put the telephoto lens on and took a good look, I could see the guy pulling the net in was throwing fish to the Dolphins. No wonder they were following the boat. I also noticed when I looked at the photos on the computer the Pelican sitting on the out-rigger, LMBO...Seems everyone wanted an easy breakfast today!

I could have sat there all morning and watched, Michael had other ideas, sigh!
Seemed a bit dangerous for this shrimper to be fishing in the shipping channel, as we were parking a VERY VERY Large Cargo Ship came in...I also noticed there were two young boys on the boat too...Spending time with Dad possibly or Grandpa? Wish I was out there, just to hear the stories being told and to see what they were catching.

Broad-winged Hawk Migration

~

This morning as Michael and I were leaving, I looked up and saw hundreds of hawks riding the thermals...Beautiful!
I had let the chickens and youngsters out and just prayed the hawks weren't hungry, gulp!
I'm pretty sure these were Broad-winged hawks but there may be some different species in their flock...I saw a few vultures riding the thermals with them.

I had a little inspiration in that Scrapping with Liz gave this template away as a Freebie to challenge us in a Topsy Turvy Challenge! It was a challenge but I'm happy with it.

Rain, Rain, and more Rain....

Ho Hum...
The ground is saturated and it's running off and filling the creeks and rivers and it just keeps coming. This morning it had cleared off for a bit and I went down to the property at about 7:30am to see how things were...
It was dark...and the birds were flittering all over enjoying the break in the rain.

The bridge is still there...

But I'm seeing some erosion and we really need to get this bridge finished...
I didn't walk back further as I didn't want to walk through the swale hole. I know it's full of water and probably snakes too, ekk...It was also dark and dreary not the greatest photo op.
Hopefully tomorrow we'll see some sunshine and things will start drying out a bit. We do have a chance of rain every day for the next week but I won't give up hope...

I can do that...

My dear sweet husband loves to shop, yes he does. Yea he's a bit weird in that way but I'm not complaining...well yes I am because sometimes he sees things he likes and wants to buy them and I tell him NO...I can make that, don't you dare buy it!
For instance he loves dream catchers and every time he sees one he wants to buy it, ugh!
I told him I used to make them and he doesn't need to buy them, I can do it, yes I can.
Today he's watching the Dallas Cowboy game and I had time on my hands and the materials to try my hand at a dream catcher. It's been 20 yrs since I've made one so it took me a while to figure it out but I did....

It's a bit plain and simple but I did it! Fred liked it and I had fun playing around. I think after some practice I might even do a bit better...

Playing around...
