Oops!

I was checking out some digi blogs recently and noticed Liz with Scrapping with Liz had a really neat card template as a freebie. I thought I might use it so I downloaded it. When I unzipped it, it wasn't what it was suppose to be, Oops! Liz had accidentally put her latest template designs on the link. I went and left a comment and told her about it. She fixed the link and asked those of us that accidentally got the wrong item if we'd at least use the templates and then put a link in her comments. I would have been willing to delete them or pay her a dollar for them as that is what she has them in her store for but I decided to put together a layout for her as she requested...So here you go Liz!

This is South Texas (it isn’t supposed to snow here) and on Christmas Eve 2004 it started snowing! I sat up all night and watched it in shock. Big fluffy flakes kept falling and falling. Who would have ever thought it would Snow in South Texas and especially on Christmas Eve. By Christmas Morning there was 12 inches of snow on the ground. Seeing this snow was a first for my son and husband. It was the best Christmas present ever and seeing the awe in their faces made it even more special.

A true Christmas Miracle!

My only regret that Christmas was NOT having a better camera to record the memory. I was using one of the old Digital Sony's that used a floppy disc...ekkk...and the photos were awful! Lots of noise and low quality. But at least I have photos :o)

Little Indian Bunny

Michael had Thanksgiving lunch at his school. Family members were invited to come and celebrate Thanksgiving with the children. Grandpa, Aunt Diana, Uncle Larry and Mom went and ate lunch with Michael. Michael’s Indian name was “Little Indian bunny”. Mom chuckled and thought it was a bit dorky but Michael loved it. Michael was so happy and proud to have some of his family eat lunch with him. Mom was in tears when she saw the pictures later. What a blessing Michael has been to us all.

There is a saying in Texas...

That everything in Texas stick, stings or bites...it's not necessarily true but I did manage this past week to capture some photos of a few critters that can cause a great deal of pain and discomfort...

Centruroides Scorpion...

They sting and it hurts like a son of gun but it's not poisonous!

Black Widow spider
The females venom is extremely poisonous to people. It often attempts to escape rather than bite unless she is guarding an egg sack.

Christmas cactus also known as Pencil Cactus...definitely has spines and not something I would touch!!

Red harvester ants...

I haven't been stung by one yet but I'm told it packs a wallop and a lot worse than a fire ant!!

I did fairly well on finding these critters and was very careful while photographing them...I hope you enjoyed learning about a few of our critters that can stick, sting or bite!

Grammy these are for you....

Yes Mom we found the costume...Mind you I had to stop eating dinner and help him find it, grr. It was on the bottom of his closet in a plastic container but we found it!! It still fit but a bit tight here and there and he is even sleeping with it tonight, lol...He's not wearing it but has it next to him in bed...silly boy!!

Here's Jake...

It dawned on me today that Jake is almost 2 1/2 yrs old and I haven't taken any photos of him lately...Jake doesn't handle the heat well but today it was cool and beautiful outside so I thought a walk and photo session might be fun. Jake has his bounce back after a long hot summer but he's out grown his puppyiness...He's a grown adult now and he acts like it too and he really pays attention to me...It's like he's all business! I am so glad we did the obedience classes as it is so nice to have a well behaved dog and I actually know the correct way to work with him...I love you Jakers!! Thanks for letting me take photos!

The start of the walk...I asked him to stay in front of the flowers. He didn't want too, he wanted to go smell and check out things but he did it...He doesn't look to happy about it either, lol...But it gives you a good idea of how big he is....(74lbs) He also needs a brushing, bath and trim, ekkk!

Confirmation wise if he was a show collie he wouldn't have that droopy ear but he's not a show collie. He's our collie and we love his droopy ear...

I have no clue what he saw on this old tree...I went over there and looked but didn't see a thing, lol...Maybe there was a lizard there or maybe the sunlight was playing tricks with him...he sure was intent on it!

It wasn't a long walk but it was nice to get out for a bit and enjoy the sunshine...still recuperating from my cold and it really isn't fun when you leave the house with out a tissue, ekk...But I think I got some great photos of Jake...He's such a pleasure to take on a walk!

Peace and Quiet...

I didn't go with Fred and Michael Sunday over to Dad's because I seem to have caught a cold and it's not a good idea to expose Dad to any virus's...I didn't feel too good but couldn't pass up the opportunity to go for a walk by myself...Beautiful, peace and quiet...

(You'll also have to excuse me I got carried away with the textures again when I was resizing the photos, lol...I just think they are sooo cool!)

Long-tailed skipper butterfly. I had a really hard time getting a photo of this little one. He was fluttering from one flower to another and just wouldn't pose for a picture :o)

Gulf Fritillary amongst the Cow Pen Daisy's and grape vine. The bright orange of the butterfly really stood out and caught my eye.

I'm honestly stunned by all the wildflowers that are blooming this autumn. I assume it is because of the rain we've been getting. I love it!

I was tired when I got done with my walk but it was worth it. I think peace and solitude is good for the soul.
