Rain?

Not here but somebody somewhere in Texas got some...

Evening skies to the West at Sunset...Afternoon heat showers popped up to the North and Northwest of us and then slowly moved away and fizzled out, sigh!

Looking North!

Happy 30th Birthday Helen!!

August is a busy Birthday month for us...as you can see! Helen's Family and Friends threw her a surprise 30th Birthday party and they got her good!! She had no clue!

OMG!!

She had tears of joy!!

Her sister, Trina, pinning on her Birthday badge!

Her friend Karie (sp.) giving her a big Hug!!

And her beautiful cake!!

Helen is one of those people that is always laughing and has such a bubbly personality. I love her and I'm so glad they had this surprise party for her! She deserved it!

On another note we (Fred and I) have 12 family members with Birthdays this month and then of course there is Helen's Birthday too...Soon we shall have another grandchild and yes his birthday will be in August too!! It's a busy Birthday Month!

High and safe...

I had to laugh when I took Molly out this evening for her walk....We had an audience but they were taking no chances with Molly!

Lydia was on the stock trailer...

And Ralph was on the roof of my truck, sigh! I hate when I have cat swoosh marks on my windshield in the mornings...Ralph!!!

The sky to the North-West was gorgeous!

And the Moon was Full!

A little bit of color...

to brighten your day!

Molly update

Molly has been with us for 2 weeks now and is starting to settle down and find her niche in our family. We are pretty laid back and she seems to like how calm it is around here. A lot different from a busy vets office.

She loves to play fetch with a tennis ball but it isn't easy when Jake is around. He wants to play too and he's 4 times the size Molly is, so I try to keep two tennis balls going or play with her when Jake is laying down in another part of the house.

We go for a morning and evening walk, any where from a 1/2 mile to a mile (depends on the heat) and she truly enjoys that. So many things to check out and smell on our walks. She has noticed the deer and would dearly love to chase them but it is not going to happen.

I'm truly hoping she will calm down when it comes to the cats but it hasn't happened yet. She goes crazy when she sees them. She got out the door on me the other morning and found KitCat on the porch, ugh! Poor KitCat tried to make it to the yard fence but didn't. It wasn't a pretty scene and Molly got a good hold on him before I could get to her. KitCat is okay but I think he used another one of his nine lives.

I've started doing some obedience training with her. The treat method doesn't seem to work with Molly but praising and petting her does work. I've been waiting for her to settle down a bit before I start on the obedience. I have noticed if she is laying on my lap she does not want Jake any where near me and growls at him, I've put a stop to that. She also growls at Jake if he gets near her crate, and she is food aggressive but we are working with her on that and she is getting better. In time and with some TLC I know she will be just fine.

The other morning I thought I'd try to have a photo shoot with Molly.

~

The lighting in our bedroom is perfect. I put a sheet on our bed and let her lay there. Things were looking good...

Until my assistant, Michael, wanted in on the photos. I got one photo and then Molly was bounding off the bed and Michael was jumping on the bed, ugh!! LOL, it didn't go well at all, ekk!! I love seeing Molly and Michael together, they both have matching energy levels and attention spans!
~

Molly knows where the toy basket is...her favorites are the rope/cloth tug toy and tennis balls!
~

I bought a small shelf unit to put in front of the living room window. I knew Molly would love to sit and look outside and she does all morning long.

Uh Oh a cat has been spotted, lol...

A little visitor at the pool...

It's been a rough beginning to our week and I needed some R&R but wasn't sure I was going to get any this evening...Michael started complaining this morning that his ear hurt. No big deal and he didn't complain much. I made him take his allergy meds and hoped that was the end of it...nope! Later in the day he said his ear was killing him and now his jaw hurt, uh oh! I called the doctor and he has an appt. for tomorrow morning, thank goodness! His ear ache has gotten progressively worse and I think it's going to be a lonnng night. He's okay and can deal with it until the tylenol wears off then watch out!! He wanted to go to the pool and I told him okay but no putting his head underwater and no getting water in his ear, that didn't go over well. He's turned into a little fish and little fishes need to swim underwater not on top! Ekk...When we got down to the pool I spied something laying next to the pool, too sweet!

I wanted to show y'all just how close she was laying nearing the pool. A safe spot for sure!

~

Just too precious and I didn't have the big camera so had to make do with the Olympus point and shoot...we were quiet and spent most of the time watching her. Michael took video of her.
~

She was getting restless but waited for Momma. Michael was worried and actually worrying about the fawn distracted him from his ear ache. We couldn't leave until Mom came for her. The doe showed up just after the sun set and off went the fawn for an evening feed. Michael was so happy her Mom came for her. I won't tell you that he was wondering if it was a male or female and was hoping it was a male, lol...said he wanted it to grow up big and strong and stick around so he could hunt it when it was older, ugh!! Wait until he kills his first deer, I don't think he's going to like it. Especially when he has to clean it himself, I had too so he will too!
~

HELLO!!

I was a wee bored so I started snapping photos!
~

This one of my favorites...he's hurting but such a beautiful smile! Love you Michael!
~

My boy, oh how I love him! I've been so blessed!

Hamming it up for the camera!

Michael is all registered for school, we did that this morning, sigh! I am not ready for Summer to end!! We've had a good Summer and it's been so nice to sleep in and Relax a bit. Michael is ready and really excited. He'll be a big 3rd grader this year. Just wait until the homework starts he won't be so excited then, Ha!

Julie is doing okay. The farrier did not make it out Monday, the heat got to him. I'm still waiting on him and Julie is still limping. But only one foot seems to be bothering her now. After fighting with her Sunday to soak and treat her feet I gave up. She hurt me and my ankle is sore and swollen again and I just can't do it. I am making sure her hooves are clean but I'm not able to soak them or wrap them like they should be, sigh! I'm hoping the farrier comes out soon so we can get to the bottom of the problem...I can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings our way...sore hooves, ear ache and a swollen ankle isn't a good start! But just watching the little fawn tonight almost made it all better :o)
