Oh My...Texas snow and it ain't cotton!

Totally shocking and unbelievable but we got snow today in SOUTH Texas...
I pulled Michael out of school at 10:30am so he could enjoy the snow and he did...

Coming down our driveway about about 10:30am....

Michael home from school and wanting to play in the snow!

I'm in shock as I look down the driveway...it's SNOWING!

Daddy helping Michael get dressed to go outside...So glad we have snowpants! I don't miss putting all the clothes on to go outside...nope I don't...so glad I live in South Texas!

MUD!! UGH!!

Julie enjoying the cold? At least I think she was...
Every time we came home today she'd run and buck around the truck, silly girl!
Another one of my favorite photos from the day!

One of my favorite photos of the day!! He was having soo much fun!

Headed down Schroeder road to go to Dad's ranch to wrap the pipes and feed the animals.

He was so excited! It's SNOWING!

He had to call Far Away Grammy and tell her it was snowing!!

Snow on the side of Highway 59...we're headed to Victoria! They were getting more snow and we had to find enough to have a snowball fight with...

Hwy 59 looking north on the Southbound lane...Victoria Texas.

We went to Inez (which is a wee bit North of Victoria)...Oh boy did we have fun!

He was just tickled to be whipping snowballs at Momma!
Another one of my favorite photos of the day!

Packing...

Armed and Dangerous!

Skipping through the snow, silly boy!

Uh Oh...getting ready....

THROW!!! (gotta love his facial expression, lol)

Coming back into Victoria at about 2:33pm...still snowing!
~
It didn't accumulate much but it was still fun...Next week back up to the 70's...Yes!
I miss not wearing my shorts, lol...
~
We also went and checked out the Christmas Train and went to the Goliad Christmas Parade but that will have to wait as this little Texas Snow bunny is tuckered out and headed to bed, Yawwwn!
Good night all...Hope y'all had a GREAT day too!

Roc the Elephant

I managed a few photos of the little darl'in today! He wasn't cooperating very well but there are a few un-blurry ones...

He was fascinated with this ball of Jakes...I used it to bribe him, lol.

OMG! He finally laid down! Sheesh it's a first!

I let Jake out with Roc this morning...it didn't go too well!
Jake attacked him on 3 separate occasions but then Roc was bouncing all over Jake too...Good thing Roc is still a pup as he doesn't realize what he could do and I'm sure he could eat Jake up and spit him out!

Roc would jump towards Jake and Jake would growl, snarl and snap!

Watch it Roc, your getting that look! Uh Oh!
~
Roc is going home in the morning, Yea!! Actually tonight he seems to be settling down a bit, but he's still going home!
~
Dad had his surgery this morning and is doing well. He has a check up tomorrow morning and then will be headed home. He isn't allowed to do anything for awhile and I think that will be pretty hard on him. He's always going and always doing. Lets pray he listens and behaves himself so his eye heals properly.

Advent - December 3 2009

Michael truly enjoys our Advent Christmas tree. Once the daily ornament is hung on the tree we wind the music turn key and listen to “We wish you a Merry Christmas”. Today was day 3, 21 more days to go until we celebrate Jesus’s Birth! I can feel the excitement in the air.

Merry and Bright ~ December 2 2009

It’s the second of December and the fall colors are peaking here. Not sparkling lights or crisp white snow but still Gods beauty shining through on a chilly winters day in December.

Whew! I honestly didn't think I'd get this layout done today...Jen sent me some new papers she had designed and I had this idea of what I wanted to do. I was just hoping the sun would come out so I could get the photo I wanted. Some of the Oak trees here have turned a brilliant reddish orange and I just love how bright and merry they are...
The photo above isn't one of the brightest ones I took today but I loved the cow in the photo! So this is December 2nd for the December Daily...two down and many more to go, lol...
~
It was suppose to be an easy day and turned into a very hectic one...Dad (Grandpocka) has a torn retina and had to be taken to Houston for emergency surgery...My Sister in Law, Diana, and her husband, Larry, took Mom and Dad to Houston. Well Larry asked me if I'd keep their dog...I said yes. I know how hard it is to find somebody reliable to take care of your animals...Okay so "Roc" isn't a dog...he's an ELEPHANT!! In the meantime Fred is calling me to do something for him, I am in the middle of eating lunch with my Library lady friends, and I have to pick Michael up from school....AARGH!!
I managed to get "Roc" to the house, after he slobbered all over the inside of my truck, grr...The crate (kind of sort of) put together and Roc in it and head to school to get Michael...Made it home in time to give Fred a kiss and hug goodbye...sheesh...
Now Roc is a puppy...at least 75lbs or more puppy...and he has no manners...Barks (or should I say trumpets) his fool head off when ever I leave the room, ugh!! Jake is NOT happy and let Roc know it...So to avoid an argument Roc is stuck in the crate...KitKat is pissed off...The chickens are okay but weren't when Roc tried to get in the coop, Oops! Michael is scared to death of the elephant and I'm thinking I can handle this for one day, ha ha ha...Larry called and said they're staying until Friday........NO!! NOooooooooooo!! Oh and by the way Roc also seems to have a noxious gas problem to boot...........UGH!!
Anybody know any good Elephant keepers? Or perhaps a Gas mask...adult and child size PLEASE!! Lets not forget ear plugs while we are at it :o)

December 1st ~ Fa La la...

My friend Jen asked if I was doing a December Daily...Hmm I wasn't sure? as I really didn't know what it was...She sent me to a few sights to check out different scrapbook albums regarding past December Daily's and it's basically a scrap layout for each day of December...I thought I could handle it (wink, wink, fingers crossed :o)...So it is December 1st and here's my layout for the day!

Journaling reads:
Michael was so excited this morning as it was December 1st. He was singing “We wish you a Merry Christmas” at the top of his lungs. He wanted to put the tree up tonight too. But I think his Fa la la got up and left. This is what I found a few minutes after we finished his homework. Poor Baby passed out on the Futon!

My Little Fisherman

~

Michael I think it’s time you got a bigger fishing pole! You’ve come along way since you started using that little pole. Lately you’ve been practicing your casting. You can cast quiet a distance but still need to work on your aim. All in due time, my little fisherman!

In the Garden...

Michael wanted to practice casting this evening and I wanted to take photos so we headed outside. Michael has been sick for the past 3 days running a fever and this is the first time he's felt good enough to go outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Poor thing! I had also let the chickens and rooster out earlier and Michael won't go outside by himself when they're loose, sigh! Stupid rooster is getting a bit cocky!
~
The Mums just started blooming and so have a few other flowers, just in time for a cold front coming later tonight!

These Mum's were given to me by my friend Helen when my Step Father, John, died last year and they're gorgeous. Every time they bloom I think of John and what a wonderful person he was.

Purple Climbing Lantana

Carolina Jasmine...
Mmmm it smells so good! It just started blooming again and I love it but I'm afraid they might get frosted too, ugh!

There were a lot of lady bugs too!

And a few butterflies...
