April 16th and I am caught up on all my photos, yeah!

I've been landscaping around the pool here and there when I can...

 

 

I finally splurged and bought some plants. One plant I've always admired and loved was Wisteria. I never had a place to put it as you need something really sturdy for it to climb on and sometimes it takes years to bloom too. So I put in a Wisteria plant near the deck of the pool and it's already started climbing the pagoda thingy and it bloomed too!

 

While I was down at the property the Pipeline Patrol flew over, no privacy anymore down there, sigh!

The Indian blankets are starting to pop up and I noticed some orange colored mutant Indian blankets.

 

They sure add a splash of color

 

The crimson clover that we planted last fall is blooming too...

 

Love seeing the field covered in wildflowers...This year because of the drought there aren't as many but there are some.

 

The butterflies are happy!

 

I cleaned the pool too and had a visitor! He was watching me but is completely harmlous.

 

Here is a Bull nettle, these sting and burn if you rub up against them or touch them. I told Michael I'd give him a quarter for every one he dug up. So far he's earned $7 but he's got a lot more to earn.

April 11, A little of this and that around our house...

 

Michael and I in the kitchen, he's doing his homework and I was making biscuits!

Our chicks aren't chicks anymore...

 

They've grown and I love that fact that they're pretty friendly for not being handled very much. Hopefully there aren't very many roosters in the bunch. I've been watching them and there are definitely 2 or 3 roosters. At 5 to 6 months I'll be positive which ones are roosters and they'll go bye bye....

 

 

 

 



April 9th...Red Rose

 

 

 

The red roses bloomed earlier this month, so pretty! My Mother in law gave me this rose bush right after we moved into this house, hmm that was 8 years ago...

 

 

 

 

 



April 6th, Male hummingbirds in the yard...

 

I sat out in the yard with the tripod and captured photos of the male hummingbirds, they're so pretty!

 

It's a bit blurry but I still like this photo, this is a Black-chinned hummingbird.

 

This little male ruby-throat was taking a break from all the territorial fighting and hiding in the bushes.

And they also love the Aloe blooms...I love the colors.

 

Such beautiful little birds and the only bird that can fly backwards!

Jenny has turned out to be a wonderful dog! She has her days but she is so smart and she's totally my dog, always by my side! I love her to pieces...And Jake he's my boy, such a sweetheart who loves everyone!

 

 

 

 



April 4, Blues and Hummingbirds...

 

 

Prairie Nymph...also known as Herbertia. Our little Iris...

 

And this year our whole back pasture was bluebonnets. We were amazed, especially as dry as it was. The only thing I can think is it's near the creek and the heavy dews and fogs helped the bluebonnets to thrive!!

Just gorgeous...and it smelled oh so good!! I was disappointed this year that Michael wouldn't pose in the bluebonnets with Jake...I knew it was coming but was hoping for one more year of photos of my boys in the flowers...

 

Back at the house...

The hummingbirds had started their annual migration, they are still here too...The one above is a black-chinned Hummingbird! On this day it was mostly males and they were not nice to each other either...

March 29, a little of this and that...

I was all over the place on this day...just taking photos here and there!

 

 

On my way home from town I spotted these Blue winged teals in the reservoir. I was a bit far away from them for a decent photo but still neat. I also saw some American coots too.

 

Then I went for a walk at the property and saw these fungi and all I can think is do NOT eat me!

 

I also spotted this white blue bonnet in the back pasture.

 

And this anole lizzard down at the creek.

 

 

I spent a lot of time trying to capture this dragonfly in flight...

 

Spotted this wild onion bloom and a wasp visiting it.

Milkvetch, toxic to livestock. It's so pretty and yet not so good for the cows and horses!
