I had never been to the Ladybird Johnson wildflower center in Austin Texas so on the first day of Spring break I decided to head up there. Fred was going to come with Michael and I but he ended up catching a cold and stayed home...It was raining when we got there and then it slowed to a drizzle and as we left it stopped...It was a beautiful place and I'd like to go back when it's nice out and explore more. We didn't do any of the trails and not too many flowers were blooming yet!
The entrance...Michael found the pond first thing and oh my goodness there were turtles in it too!!

There were wind sculptures on exhibit and they were pretty neat
They were having an artisan show too and that is one reason I wanted to go. I love hand made items. One of the exhibitors showed me where the famous owls are at. The owls nest here every year. I had to walk back out to the vehicle to get the 300mm lens. I hadn't brought it in with me as I wasn't sure if I was allowed to take photos. But Michael and I were loving the owl and where she was at...not easy to spot if you didn't know...
There were a few flowers blooming...
I liked the labels on everything...nice to know what I'm looking at
It also gives me ideas of what I'd like to plant at the property

We found a few bluebonnets too, at the time they were just starting to bloom.

Because of the drizzle I didn't want to switch lenses on the camera so I used my cellphone to take these photos of different spots at the wildflower center. Loved the stone they used in the buildings.

Then I found out the real reason Michael came with me and why he was in a hurry to leave the wildflower center...He wanted to stop at Cabela's, lol...the little brat!
And on the way home I was able to stop and get photos of the Bison. We see them on 183 just North of Cuero but I've never gotten photos. Michael was tickled when I stopped. He wanted to check them out a bit better. The big bison above was the bull and he was huge. I've worked with Bison before at a zoo and they aren't anything to mess with, they can be mean! So neat to see them.
We had a good adventure on our first day of spring break!
