Oh MY ~ Some excitement!

We had gone to a fishing tournament dinner tonight up at Lake Texana...On our way home we passed an Alligator starting to cross the road...
I told Fred "Did you see that?"
He said "No, what?"
I said "that Alligator"...
He said "Your joking"...
"Why would I joke about something like that!".
"There was an alligator getting ready to cross the road"...
Michael "Why did the Alligator want to cross the road?"...
Me "UGH"...
"Seriously, there was an Alligator back there!"...
Fred pulls the truck over and turns around and drives back....
Fred "Oh Sh_t! There is an Alligator in the road!"....Me I sigh!
I decide to play crocodile hunter and jump out of the truck with the Powershot and start taking photos...It was a little one but still neat!! I managed to get a few photos. Fred then drives in front of it and gets it to turn back into the brush...There were to many vehicles and we didn't want it to get hit....
I was a little disgusted as I had decided not to take the Rebel as it would be to much to lug around so all I had was the powershot...If only I had had the Rebel, lol...then I might have been able to really zoom in on him....I didn't dare get to close, even though he was little they can still pack a powerful wallop!! I may be a bit dangerous at times but I am not stupid, lol. That was our excitement for the evening, pretty sweet!

CAT DIARY
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.
In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

Photo Challenge ~ Jake and flower ~

The wind wasn't blowing first thing this morning so I went on walkabout in the yard trying to find something to fit the challenge for this week. This is what I came up with...
~ Regal Master Jake ~
LOL not so regal with that floppy ear but in our hearts he is very regal...I was trying to use the Crepe Myrtle as a frame but didn't have much luck. This was the best I could do with the Crepe Myrtle on the top of the photo!

I was about to give up when I spotted this Morning Glory bloom through the tomato plants.

I'm going to keep trying. I have a tree in mind over at my inlaws ranch and we are going over there tomorrow to work. If I can kidnap one of my neices and go find the tree for a bit I may have more to post.

Frame in a Frame ~ Michael

This week on our photo challenge we have to come up with photos that frame your subject. You can go check out the photo challenge blog here if you'd like. The wind has been just awful here and I have been having camera withdrawals...So I decided to just take a few test photos of Michael here in the house tonight. The lighting is really awful in my computer/scrap room, since we switched out the fluorescent lights for the ceiling fan with them itty bitty candelabra bulbs, they suck!! Anyways Michael saw me grab the camera and was trying to hide by putting his head between his legs while upside down in the recliner, lol...silly goose! He just doesn't realize how persistent Momma is, lol....I had a feeling the flash on the camera might wash him out and didn't have time to adjust the settings (white balance and such)...so what you see is what you get for the time being until this blasted wind dies down!!
My son being framed by his legs, lol...Silly boy!!

Blooms, Bugs & Critters

Ahh it feels good to be back to nature photos after that really hot parking lot at the library yesterday. I actually went out late this afternoon to water the watermelons and saw that Michael's sunflower had bloomed. It wasn't the greatest lighting for photos but I could see the grasshoppers were munching on it! Better to get some photos before it was gone!

I just love the colors and texture in this macro shot!

Katydid on silverleaf sunflower.

~ Wheel bug ~

This little darling can give a painful stab when handled and NO I didn't touch him, lol.

Common Gray Treefrog

Jakers laying in the yard waiting for me to finish with the camera, lol...

Macro ~ Macro ~ Macro

Today's lesson in the Exposure book was MACRO!! Yes my favorite! I didn't use the telephoto lens as suggested in the book but the 55mm lens. I didn't think they came out to bad...
Mr. Grasshopper is eating my Sylvia, grrr!!

Paper wasp on milkweed. They were all over the milkweed this morning!

Hairstreak resting on a chili patin.

Paper wasp

Harvester Ants and they can really pack a Wallop!! As I was trying to focus and not get bit, Michael was yelling "they are on your shoes Momma!!" and they were! Thank goodness they didn't make it to my skin before I started jumping and stomping to get them off my shoes, lol!! All in a days photography for me!!

Cherry Tomato, my favorite!

Aloe bloom.

Crepe Myrtle before blooming.

This is the new plant I bought this spring that is on the porch. Mom what was the name again, lol! I just love it's blooms!!

If you click on the grasshopper and last flower photo you can see the detail, lol...I really liked what the Rebel did, quiet a bit of difference from the Powershot! The colors just seem more vibrant and the focus so much clearer on some of them at least. I was reading an extender tube for my Telephoto lense would really do excellant macro's...maybe some day! But for now this is what I can do...I hope you enjoyed them! Thanks for stopping by!

Misc. photos from this evening.

Just playing with the camera this evening, can you tell?

Cloudless Giant Sulphur Butterfly on Plumbago bloom.
Michael came running in the house, screaming butterfly, butterfly!! So I grabbed the camera, not actually thinking the butterfly would still be there but it was. I snapped a few photos before it moved on...Not the greatest photos as I couldn't get to close or it would flutter off but I tried!

Okay here are my VERY ugly feet! I can't believe I am putting this photo on here but just loved Michael's feet with mine. I am shocked as to how big his feet are, yikes!! He's going to be tall or short with HUGE feet, lol...As you can see my feet are not a priority in my life so take a quick look and then forget you ever saw them, lol.

I was taking photos of the Sylvia (sp.) when Michael asked if he could smell them and of course I said yes. I had about one second to take the photo, ekk. I asked him to pose again and he said NO and trotted off with his bb gun, grrr...BOYS!!

Yep I was trying for more hummingbird photos tonight. This is the best one I took! I will keep playing with this camera and I will get a fantastic photo one of these evenings and stun all of you, lol. Now if the hummingbirds would just cooperate, lol!!

I am all photoed out for the day, lol...is that a word? It is now!! Hope you enjoyed!

Mooooo a cow story!

The cows came up to the house this evening and what a great photo op. I read about storytelling apertures today and thought I'd give it a go. You are supposed to use a wide angle lens, which I don't have, so I used the telephoto lens. I set the aperture as high as I could go, f/22 most of the time and adjusted the shutter speed accordingly. This is supposed to keep everything in your exposure in focus and tell a story! LOL did that make sense, Ekk!

Heifer cow posing for the camera, or possibly begging for more alfalfa cubes, lol...Shh don't tell Fred I was feeding the cows, ekk. See they aren't our cows and I am not supposed to feed them...

Chocolate Milk cow with Heifer cow in the background.

Hey who's that little doggie back there...lol...Isn't she sweet and growing too! And No I am not talking about Julie and her fat gut! But that cute little heifer calf!

Oh Ferdinand, where are you my love? Sorry I couldn't resist, love that book!

More Alfalfa cubes, PLEASE!!

I said, PLEASE!!

A group shot, lol...Heifer cow, Puzzle cow and Chocolate Milk Cow!

What a story! Can you tell I am bored, lol...Not really but I had fun and I do so love the cows!

Slideshow ~ Who's in charge?

I took some photos (probably to0 many) of the cow we call heifer and another cow butting heads. Heifer cow is the low man, or should I say cow, on the totem pole. This is the first time I've seen her lock horns with one of the older cows. Did she win? Well I'm not sure, as it seemed like a draw to me, lol. They both just walked off after the head butting incident. Isn't my life entertaining, lol...instead of watching a gut-wrenching tv series I watch cows butt heads, lol...

Oh by the way Heifer is on the left and the older cow (I call puzzle) is on the right.
