Why Oh Why?

Why is it almost every time I get to get out of the house for a little bit and spend sometime with friends something happens????
Fred and I were both looking forward to going to a local towns Volunteer fire station Benefit...
BBQ, Auctions, Cakewalks, Game room for the kids...lots of fun!
And we did make it and we were having fun, Michael won a cake (with a little help from Johnny, thank you Johnny) during the cake walk...And then Fred started having an allergic reaction!! Hives, itching...last time this happened he ate clam sauce...Hmmm the only thing that he ate at the Benefit that might have had clam sauce was the BBQ sauce...Now what idiot put clam sauce in BBQ sauce??
So we hurried up and left, traveling to the nearby Convenience store for Benedryl...After he took 4-25mg Benedryls and one 12.5 mg Childrens Benedryl we headed home...But as we got nearer to Victoria he started having problems breathing...Ekkk...So instead of heading home we ended up in the Emergency room....2.5 hours later he was feeling better...Poor thing! His eyes are just about swollen shut and he is covered in hives!! But he can breath, Yea!!
We made it home and he's in bed until the next dose of benedryl...he'll be sleeping for a few days before this is over with...
The last reaction was 6 yrs ago and we make sure he doesn't eat anything with clam sauce...But who would have thought they'd put it in BBQ sauce?? He never had problems breathing the first time, this time he did. The doctor is worried that if it happens again it could be even worse...So now we have a prescription for Epi pens...and we'll definitely keep some around just in case...
And instead of having fun we spent the evening in the ER....But hey looking at the bright side I got out of the house for a few hours, LMBO...

The Total Sum...

~

This was a layout I created for an assignment in a class I am taking at Jessicasprague.com...The class is called Typewriter I and we are learning to journal or do a better job of journaling on our layouts. And also how to design Typography...it's a pretty interesting class.
This layout was about the walk Michael and I took this past Sunday at Mom and Dad's ranch...
The template was designed by Jessica Sprague and is called The Total Tally...that was also the title but I didn't like it so I changed it to Total Sum...
~
I've got photos on my camera I just haven't had a chance to check them out. We had a coldfront blow in Tuesday morning and I took photos...Our Temps this morning were 64 degrees F...a wee bit chilly! But it's refreshing and beats 90 + degrees...
Stay tuned and I hope to get some new photos posted soon!

Silly Boys and his photos

While looking at the photos of our nature walk today I found these photos on Michael's camera...he makes me laugh!! They're from August and September enjoy the point of view of a 6 yr old!!

Nature walk with Momma & Michael

Trying to keep Michael out of the guys hair why they did their work I asked if he'd go on a walk with me and take his camera...surprisingly he said "yes"...Oh so cool...
~
Below is a photo journal of our nature walk...
~
Michael spotted the butterflies above and we both started clicking away...above is Michael's photo and below is mine.

Michael's photo......

My photo of Spanish moss draping from a giant Oak tree

Michael's photo above, mine below.

Michael's photo of turks cap, mine below.

Michael was trying to focus in on the center of the turks cap bloom below...He's was getting frustrated as his camera wouldn't zoom and focus...It may be time to let him use the Canon Powershot S3IS to work with...

Michael's photo below...

He was so darn cute I couldn't NOT take a photo of him working with his camera...He is really starting to notice if the photo is blurry or not and if it's blurry he deletes it...of course he still needs to work on his camera skills but I'm still tickled that at least he is understanding what is a good photo...

Michael's photo of a rain lily (above), mine below.

The one above & below are both mine...Michael at this point and time had had enough and was hot and ready to get to the ranch house...

We had a good walk and I think next time I'll let him use the PowerShot. I also saw a bunch of birds...warblers, green jays, etc...but with a 6 yr old patience is not a strong point...flowers are much easier :o)

Anole's in the Garden

I walked around Criste's flower beds and took photos...

Bloom with aphids...

Anole lizard

Cacti

Another Anole Lizard...actually it's the same lizard as a above. I have too much fun taking photos of them!

Pink and Yellow Lantana

I love the contrast of this anole lizard on a t-post...He was so bright green and you can get an ideal of how small he was...

Sunday Morning at the Ranch - The People

We headed over to Mom and Dad's ranch first thing this morning...

The guys having a morning bull session before they head off to do their assorted tasks.

Dad heading off on the tractor.

Zekey (cousin) and Fred changing the oil in Dad's truck.

There's my boy...helping his Dad and giving me a pose or perhaps a cheesy grin :o)

Zekey and Fred, I love using the telephoto as I can stand far off and the guys never know I'm taking their photos...lol.

And of course Grandpa and Michael enjoying time together!
