Roller Skating...

No not me but Michael tried...
He went to a friends birthday party today at the Roller rink. I managed a few photos with the point and click camera before the battery died...
~

Trying to get his balance, he was so afraid of falling. I tried to explain to him that we all fall when we are learning and that it's okay, it's how we learn. I wish I had been able to walk without crutches so I could have helped him.
~

I finally managed to talk him into going out on the floor...woohoo!
~

He wasn't out on the floor for long before he came back to the wall, whoops!! I think he skated or tried to skate for a whole 15 minutes, sigh! I guess skating just isn't his cup of tea.

I love Texas and I love Spring in Texas...

I spent the morning cleaning the pool. I shut it off last November after my foot surgery and today I turned it back on and spent the morning cleaning it...and I am soo sore, lol. I kind of over did it and my foot isn't good so I'm back on crutches for a bit. In between vacuuming the pool I took breaks here and there and got some awesome photos with the 300mm lens...Sheesh it sure is gorgeous at our property...Blooms, Bees and Butterflies!

Sandhill cranes flying over...I also had a hawk come sit on a electric pole near the pool and scream at me. Of course I didn't have the camera in the pool, sigh. He sure was pretty.

God Bless Texas!

March 2nd is Texas Independence Day.
One hundred and seventy-six years ago today, Texans voted and approved the Declaration of Independence to be a free Republic from Mexico.
The Texas Declaration of Independence was adopted on March 2nd, 1836, when settlers officially broke from Mexico creating the Republic of Texas.

God Bless Texas and the men and women that fought for her freedom!

A misty morning...

This morning we had a light mist and the Robins were here. I was also buzzed by a Berylline hummingbird, the first one for the year. I put a hummingbird feeder up, so I hope to have photos soon.
~
The Huisache (Sweet Acacia) trees are blooming

~
A closer look
~
Fred and I, and most ranchers/farmers consider these trees a nuisance but I've been reading and I was stunned that some people consider them a beautiful addition to their gardens and yards! Yikes! They can come to our property and have all the Huisache trees they want! It's a Texas native tree and drought tolerant with lots of thorns! I hate to say this but driving down the road and seeing the trees full of bright yellow blossoms is pretty but just not on our property, lol.

Just in case...

you were missing the deer, they are still here!
~
There were 8 bucks that I saw and here is a photo of 4 of them
~

A bit of humor

~
Some one shed an antler
~
I've been spotted, ekk
~
It was a gorgeous day, in the 80's and partly cloudy skies. I went with a friend, who is a farrier, to help him while he trimmed horses hooves so I wasn't able to go for a nature walk. I am sure there will be more days for my nature walks but I did miss not going out today. I saw over 28 deer in the pasture tonight and tried for a few decent photos...

Flying a mini-kite

~

I got Michael a mini-kite as I thought he might have an easier time flying these, then the big Huge one I got him last year. I also thought with a mini-kite I wouldn't have to climb a mesquite tree to rescue it...
~

He did fairly well, you can see his helper on the ground in the background. She had fun!
~

Lydia going into attack mode, yikes!

~

Ohhh a long long piece of string? Fun Fun Fun!!
Michael got frustrated after a bit and put it up but it was fun trying!

Wildflower photos from Sunday...

Sunday, when I was frustrated with Fred and him cultivating a spot for a garden, I decided it was time for some photo therapy and I went for a walk to see what was blooming...
~
Upon our arrival to the property and well house I spotted this Pipevine Swallow tail butterfly which had just recently come out of it's crysalis and was drying it's wings, cool!
~

BladderPod

~

I was unable to find this in the (5) wildflower books I have. It is growing in a swampy (when it rains it is swampy) area and has leaves at the bottom of the stem and along the ground like a wandering jew plant...

Another unknown...

Another unknown...after several hours of looking I finally just gave up trying to figure this one out...Just enjoy the photo :o)

Ten-petal Anemone also known as a windflower

Prickly Pear Cactus, OUCH!

Phlox

Southern Corydalis

~

I'll attempt to name the wildflowers (as I like to know what they are), some are easy and others not so easy to figure out what they are. I may not always be correct or it may have a more than one name, so please forgive me for any mistakes. I am human and do the best I can. Every week/day I am seeing new wildflowers come up. I'm seeing lots of bluebonnet plants and can hardly wait for the blooms...gotta love Texas in Springtime!

He doesn't like vegetables...

But he's decided he wants a VEGETABLE garden...
~
It's a very sore subject with me...Why would a man who hates vegetables want to grow them?
~
And I know who's going to have to keep the garden up and it's NOT going to be him but ME!! I've been there done that for a good portion of my life and I don't want too!! But he's NOT listening...He's a city boy, he thinks that you can just throw seeds in the ground, HA!! If it were only that easy! I'm working out a contract with the deer, racoons, and birds...we may have a deal soon :o) But Shhhh don't tell that man above about it, lol.
