Today was open season for deer hunting with guns here in Texas. We went out this morning but didn't see anything that was legal. The inside spread of the antlers has to be 13 inches or more. There was one that was probably legal but we weren't sure so we let him be, we aren't desperate enough to get ourselves in trouble. I do hope we get one or two as the meat would be nice, sure helps with the grocery bill. Last year Fred got one and when I heard the cost of processing I told Fred ah No we'll do it ourselves. So we cut and wrapped up his deer. This year I hope to can a lot of the meat, venison is so good canned.
We've seen a few photos of bucks that friends have gotten. They sure didn't look legal to me but what do I know...13 inches is hard to judge sometimes.
I also fed the deer part of a pumpkin from the garden and they loved it. Nice to know the pumpkins won't be going to waste!
The Morning glories on the deck finally started blooming, they kind of got a bit out of control but I love them!
