After we got home from the airport...

For some goofy reason I thought Mom's plane left the airport at around 3pm...well it left at around Noon, ekk...But we got that straight Friday night so we weren't late and had no problems getting to the airport on time but Michael and I had an afternoon to figure out something to do...I almost took him downtown San Antonio but decided to head home instead...Glad I did because we had a great afternoon...
It was gorgeous and the wind had died down so I suggested to Michael we go Kayak the creek and he loved the idea...

He really needs the practice...we were headed down a narrow spot and someone went sideways and got stuck, ugh!! He starts yelling for help and as most of you know me, I grab the camera...oops!! I had to get photos, lol...(we took the powershot in a dry bag). I told him he's in ankle deep water and needs to figure this one out on his own...I can't rescue him every time!

Still taking photos and he's still stuck...he finally did manage to get unstuck without getting out of the kayak...Yea!

Ahh we finally got to where the creek opens up...it was gorgeous...The fish were swimming right up to the Kayaks. Not too many people come back in here and fish...no power boats at all. We saw a Spotted Gar that was aprox. 3ft long...A school of HUGE carp...Bass and More Bass and Big Bass too! Catfish and some of those were pretty good size too...Can't wait to take the fishing poles and see what I can catch!

I loved Kayaking with my son today...It was so nice to be in this peaceful place and enjoy it together.

Taking a break...

Not sure why but he was all thumbs today when it came to Kayaking. Maybe because we were on the bigger part of the creek. He also had spiders in his Kayak and was NOT very happy...they were itty bitty harmless spiders, ugh! But he still panicked, you would have thought a snake was in the Kayak with him...We went for about 1.5 hrs and then turned around. He was tuckered out so I towed him most of the way back...He liked being able to lay back, relax and watch the fish and I got a good upper body work out!
~
I'm hoping to go tomorrow too...we shall see :o)

Bye Bye Grammy...

We took Grammy to the airport today...on the way we spotted this field of Bluebonnets just off Hwy 87 and it was absolutely gorgeous...my photos do NOT do it justice!!

I combined 4 photos to give you an idea of how HUGE this field of blue bonnets was...do I need a wide angle lens, YES! :o) And this was only about half the field...

Michael my little photo pro...His camera broke so he is using the Powershot and loves it...He took a lot of videos on our drive but we'll save those for a later date...little darl'in, I did not know he was video taping, ekk.

At the airport and Grammy is looking for a lost object which thankfully I found in the door of the truck where it fell out of her purse...she wasn't too happy! Well that is until we found it...lol

Saying our goodbyes...
Sheesh Mom I miss you the house is a wee bit quiet now :o) Kit is keeping your chair warm until you come back!

Ugh...no kisses Grammy!

Love you Mom, thank you again for everything. Glad you made it home safe and sound...enjoy that cold weather...Brrrrr...It was in the 80's here today and beautiful sunny skies!

Michaels 2010 Quilt

My Mother is so darn talented...She came up with this idea after showing Michael how to sew his name with the sewing machine and Incorporated the whole quilt around his name...

She used a few of his favorite t-shirts, his hand prints, drawings, art work and then let him pick out the fabrics...We love it and will treasure it always!
Thank you Mom (Grammy) it's absolutely wonderful!

March 25 2010 Wildflowers in Goliad City

Mom is headed home tomorrow and we are going to miss her. She made a request the other day to go to the city of Goliad for wildflowers and shopping and here are a few photos of our time there...
Awesome...I don't think I could ever get tired of seeing the roadsides painted in flowers...

Macro, ring flash and Wildflowers

Wednesday evening I headed outside with the Macro lens and ring flash to see what I could do. It was a bit dark and dreary but I wanted to catch the raindrops on the flowers. The wind was blowing but not too bad and this is what I took...

Evening Primrose

One of my favorites...bluebonnet with rain drops.

This is another one of my favorites...I like the softness and the colors.

Toadflax

Rain drops on a bluebonnet leaf...

Spiderwort

The colors are so vivid...sheesh!

Bladderpod

Disc Flower

Indian PaintBrush

Wild Indigo

White Gaura

Plains Fleabane

I had fun but honestly am hoping for better weather, not so rainy and dreary....and then some time to just walk with out being rushed would be nice too...Maybe soon.

2010 Goliad Rodeo and Fair

This past Saturday was the Goliad County Rodeo and Fair...It's a family tradition with us that we all go, come rain, shine and this year COLD!!
A coldfront had come through Saturday morning and dumped 1.5 inches of water and brought some very very chilly weather...My Mom decided to stay home, smart move on her part as it wasn't very fun...Thank goodness for lots of warm clothes and blankets!

Do they look cold?

She's cold and in shock!

We won't discuss this photo, just use your imagination!

Hands in his face man (Frankie)...

At first Fred reminded me of snoopy with his cap but now that I look at it I'm thinking Walter Matthae, ekkk....what a pair!

Mutton Bust'in...Yep the kids ride sheep!

Team of mules...brings back memories...Driving horses that is...

U.S.A. (our flag)

YeeHaw...

Ouch!
~
We pretty much made an appearance at the rodeo and then left to take Michael on a few rides and then headed home to get Warm!!

He sure does love Airplanes...love that smile!
I didn't have the tripod or monopod so most of these photos were taken at 1600 ISO and are grainy...but you get the jist of the photo session...Life in South Texas :o)
