Julie, my horse, use to see the vet at least once a year. She had a check up and her teeth floated. She went more often if she got sick or something happened. I also had a stock trailer back then that was road safe. My stock trailer is no longer road safe and Julie thankfully has been healthy except for last fall when she had a bout of sand colic. Emergency vet house calls are outrageously priced but it's also hard to find a vet to do house calls. Julie needs her teeth floated (filed) to keep her healthy and chewing her food like she should. On facebook last week someone posted a Mobile vet that was having a special on teeth floating. I called and we set up an appointment for him to come out. Today was the day. His name is Dr. Hanselman and his wife works with him. They did an awesome job. I also talked to him about the heifer calves and he vaccinated them for me too! It was great meeting him and his wife. It is nice to know there is a another large animal vet in the area and he makes house calls.
His prices were reasonable too but him being mobile is awesome!!
He is out of Port Lavaca a little bit of a drive but not too bad. I hope we have a long future together and he and his wife stay in the area.
