Friday, October 26 - Garner State Park (Texas Hill Country)

 

I've been to Garner but never camped there, I thought it was time to take the little Man for a weekend camping trip. I chose Garner State Park as I also wanted to hike trails at Lost Maples State Park and they are near each other. My girlfriend Dawn and her Family were going to meet up with us Friday night and while we waited for them to arrive....

 

 

 Michael and I got the tent set up and then we went exploring...

 

 

 I took him down to the Old part of Garner Park, I love the old Cyprus trees!!

 

 

 He was attempting to skip rocks on the Frio River...

 

 

This is right before I read the sign that said "slippery when wet" to Michael and he slipped and fell into the river...Brr it was cold too, 55 degrees F. Our adventure ended early and we headed back to camp for dry clothes and a warm campfire!!

The next day, Saturday, our plans were to hike Lost Maples State Park.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



We interrupt the trip photos for Halloween 2012...

About a month ago Michael told me he didn't want to do Halloween this year...no carving pumpkins, no costumes, no trick or treating...Then two days ago he changed his mind, argh!! He wanted to be a Soldier and no not a Marine but Army (We have the Marine outfit)...Thank goodness we have a store nearby that sells Army surplus items...

 

 Here's what we came up with...

 

 

 We met up with our Friend Alisa and her son Kaden and then another friends grandchildren, Toby and Nicholas for some trick or treating...

 I don't have a clue what he is doing...

 

 

 Fix'in to start trick or treating...

 

 

 And they are off...

 I thought this was a toad on the road but it was a bat and injured or sick so we stayed away...

 

 

 Spooky yard!

 

 

 There was some great decorations...I asked if I could take a photo and the people got up and let the boys sit down for a photo. I didn't mean for them to get up but thought that was so nice...

 

 

One of our lasts stops was a spooky glowing garage all decorated with a creepy clown (on the right)...They did an awesome job!

 

We had a lot of fun and I'm glad we went!!

We took a little trip...

Friday, Michael and I, headed out to the Texas Hill Country for a little camping excursion! We just got home today and I thought I'd share a couple of photos for the time being...

 

 Our friends Dawn, Skeeter, Dacey and Trey met us there for the weekend and we spent Saturday hiking Lost Maples State Park and camped out at Garner State Park.

 

 

This photo was taken Sunday morning near the Dam at Garner State Park, the Frio River is behind us.

 

I took over 600 photos and got those narrowed down to 400 and a few videos too...Hopefully I'll have time to work on the photos here in the near future...

 

We had a blast and hope to do it again!
