More photos of the New Tractor!

Yes the tractor is still in the house and NO, as we've told Michael a hundred times already, the battery is NOT fully charged!! LOL....He can't drive it yet but he has been having a blast with it! First he's had to cover it up to protect it! Daddy puts a tarp over his tractor so Michael's tractor needs a cover too!!....See below!

Michael kept trying to sit in the wagon which he is to big for so in order to keep him from trying to sit in it I suggested we put some of his smaller friends in it!! I couldn't resist the photos and apologize if I am boring you to death!

He is cracking me up and I'm just anticipating what happens tomorrow out in the yard when we put the battery in it, ugh!! Thank goodness most of my plants are in brick flower beds, lol...We might have to kiss Daddy's watermelon plant good-bye as that is in the yard and I'm sure soon to be destroyed! I have never understood or saw the sense in purchasing one of these battery operated vehicles for a child...I don't see the problem with a tricycle or bike where they use their legs/feet to power it but my son is having a blast with this and it's fun to see him using his imagination with it! I'm sure before the newness wears off I'll have posted so many photos of this thing you'll all be yawning but for the moment I'm having a good laugh at my sons expense! Scooby Doo is his favorite buddy and you'll notice in the one photo Scooby gets to ride up front with Michael but then Michael changed his mind and threw Scooby back with the others in the wagon...he said it was to dangerous for Scooby up front, lol, my thoughtful son!!

YeeHaw Michael got his tractor!!

Michael got his tractor!! We promised him this John Deere tractor if he would go potty in the potty...He has been doing really well, not fully potty trained but darn near close! He was tickled in the store when we told him yes you can get it! Fred told him he had to take a nap before he could play with it and he didn't like the idea but fell asleep on the way home. While he was sleeping we put it together and when he got up the first thing he asked was where is my tractor, can I play with it I took a nap! LOL...he didn't forget! We have to wait 14 hrs for the battery to charge and trying to explain that to an almost 4 yr old is darn near impossible!! Right now the tractor is in the living room and he's sitting on it watching tv!!

Friday, Lazy Day!

Today is a lazy day! Not too lazy though because I have done the dishes and vacuumed but lazy enough! I decided to grab the camera and see what decent photos I could come up with in the heat of the day. Not the best time to be taking photos but here are a few...The first two of Michael were hilarous, not great photos but funny ones! I had just stepped out on the porch when I noticed a grasshopper on the front window. Well Michael poked his head through the curtains and jumped back immediatly upon spotting the grasshopper on the window. I think he thought it was on the inside....I then proceeded to get photos of him studying it through the window...lol...Just looking at him makes me wonder what is he thinking???

The photo above is a bloom on some ornamental grass my Mother planted in a planter...not sure what the grass is called but I thought the bloom was pretty! Again taken during mid day and full sun, not the best of photos!

This photo (above) is a bacholers button. I thought of my good friend Helen and how she loves the color purple when I saw this...it actually was purple but looks quiet pink in the photo, lol...that is what I get for trying in the middle of the day to get a great photo. I still think it looks pretty and thought you might like it Helen!! Enjoy!

March and June Flood comparison

Flooded creek March 14, 2007.

The flood waters went over the bank on the otherside but our side was high and dry!

Below is a photo I took yesterday, same tree in the photo! I took it at mid-day not an idea photo but if you click on it you can see down the bank to where the water is flowing in the creek. I also put a label on there to show where the sand/gravel bar is, which you can not see in the above photo as it was probably under 8 or 10ft of water.... The highest bank on our property is approx. 10ft above the normally running creek.

June 25, 2007 slight flooding.

The kids pool is under water and we've had about 3 inches of rain in the past 5 days.

Didn't mean to bore anyone just thought this was an interesting comparison!

Just call me "Snap" Happy today!!

I know your thinking....More photos, ugh! LOL but here we go agian...I cleaned and refilled the hummingbird feeders tonight and decided to try and get a decent photo of the hummers that visit. I was only able to get a photo of the berylline hummer, the rubythroat was too shy. I can't be positive but the little hummer below, I think, is the one that stayed on our porch during the cold spell we had this spring and he's just hung around. He's so cute and rules over the feeders. This is the first decent photo I've gotten of him but he let me sit pretty close to the feeders with my tripod and watched me from the fence. They need their evening feed before sunset so are a little more tolerant of me.

While I was waiting for the hummingbirds to come around I thought Wow the Moon, lets see what happens when I take a photo of it, Ta-Da! Not real great, but I can see the craters, lol...yes I'm really bored!

This is a yellow-billed Cuckoo...They are around here a lot in the summer but really shy of me and the camera. He's quiet a ways away so it's not the greatest photo but I can tell what it is and really the first decent shot I've had of one. I had to yell at Michael and Fred to stop in their tracks so I could get a photo before he flew away. I got some pretty dirty looks for my request but ignored them and took this photo, lol...

Well the sun has set and I am done for the day....Enjoy!

Water droplets, Blooms and Birds!

I loved this one with the reflection of the house in the water droplet on the plantation lily.
I have been trying for several weeks to get a photo of the beautiful red cardinals flying around the house but to no avail. This was one in flight but just to far for my camera for a really decent view. I still thought it was a pretty neat one.

Flood Photo and Normal Photo of Kids Pool

This is a photo of the kids pool on the creek when it flooded in April. Not as bad as the flood in March when I couldn't even stand where I was when I took this photo as it was under water.

This is a photo of the kids pool I took today and it is back to normal. I told Michael we'd go fishing this evening but with the storms we are getting right now I don't think we'll be doing any fishing today! I so love it down there, it's so peaceful and quiet! If you see that bank to the right, in the March flood the water was over that bank and the sand/gravel bar in the middle of the photo was under about 8ft of water. I am always amazed at the power of water!

White Top Sedge also known as Ghost Grass. This is not a wildflower but a sedge grass that grows in wet areas. I thought it was beautiful.

If you look closely in the upper left corner there is a bass. I was calling him spot as he has a spot on the left side of his head. He chased off a mud turtle as I was standing there. I didn't know fish would chase off turtles but this one did!

We had taken the tractor and mule down to fix the Hog trap and Fred was going to shred. While Fred was doing something to his disc with help from Michael I went on walk-about and got some photos down at the creek. I was found a little while later by my not to pleased husband with son in tow...Oops! Caught again..lol...Sometimes it is so peaceful to get away from my chatter-box son and get some nature photos and just watch everything in motion in peace and quiet! It doesn't happen often but even for a few minutes it's nice :o) Michael and I drove the mule back up to the house and left Fred down there to shred. But after 5 minutes at the house I noticed the sky getting dark so Michael and I jumped in the truck and got to Fred just before a torrential rain...So here we are sitting at the house and waiting for the rain to pass so we can go get the tractor and bring it home!
