Saturday my intentions were to be at the Zoo early to meet up with a friend who was there doing a show on snakes...I got up at 6am and headed to the garden to water and clean the pool. I managed to get the garden watered when Michael called and said the plumber was at the house, sigh! We had a water leak in the wall but I thought it was understood I wouldn't be home in the morning but I guess they didn't understand me. I headed back to the house and due to the water being shut off couldn't take a shower and had to wait around for the plumber to finish up...Then I wasn't pleased as he just patched it up instead of welding it...After he finished up I hurried up and got ready to head to the Zoo, by this time it was 10am. Michael and I headed out to the Jeep and lo and behold I had a flat tire, ugh! So I got that aired up (it was a slow leak) and we headed into Victoria to the Zoo...Finally we made it at 11am just as the day was starting to heat up...
I was in a bit of a hurry as the friend was doing his show and I didn't want to miss it. I walked by this peacock strutting his stuff and completely ignoring him. Michael said "Mom look at him isn't he beautiful"...I nodded and kept walking. (I worked in a Zoo with peacocks squawking over my head all day long so I'm not too fond of the little darl'ins) Then I stopped and thought he is gorgeous and maybe someone will like this photo so I walked back over to him and took a few photos! And of course everyone on facebook oohed and ahhed over the photo :)
We finally made it...Clint and his daughter are on stage with Michael's friend Colby...Colby absolutely loves snakes and loves hanging out with Clint.
As always Clint is really informative and he does love his snakes.

We headed back to the reptile house and Clint handed John Lemmon the Ball Python over to Michael.

While they were off on their walk I was helping Clint show off his snakes. I love seeing the kids pet and hold the snakes. They are so amazed.
After a bit Michael, Clint's daughter and I headed to the pool and cooled off while Clint finished up at the Zoo...
Michael really had fun with Becky.
This was their first time meeting each other and I'm so glad they got along and had fun!

Then Clint arrived he was exhausted but we ended up going for a walk. We forgot our cameras and didn't really see anything interesting. When we got back over by the pool he wanted to flip some wooden crates we had lying around and we did...and things got interesting!
First off a Black widow spider...We have these all over the place.
And then Lo and Behold we flipped another one and there was a Western Diamondback rattle snake! Wow! I had told Clint we'd seen copperheads, coral snakes and water moccasins but never a Rattle snake on the property. He told me they are there and he was correct!
Clint runs his own business called Texas snakes and more. He knows what he's doing and brought the rattle snake out into the driveway for photos. He got some good ones and so did I.
Such a pretty snake...and he was pretty calm too!

I was really stunned that Clint found a rattle snake. I always thought because we had copperheads we didn't have rattle snakes but I was wrong. Clint does not harm the snakes he finds. Sometimes he keeps them and sometimes he turns them loose where there are no homes or people. I honestly believe we probably would have never seen this snake as he doesn't want to be around us anymore than we want him around...he just found a good hiding spot. We haven't been around the wooden crates for awhile. I'm glad Michael got to see it and now he knows why I am always telling him "watch for snakes" when he's walking through the tall grass.
Clint took the snake with him and might use him at his shows at NASA in Houston Texas.
