Owens Annual Fishing Tournament

We went fishing as we were in the Annual fishing tournament for Owens. This is the first year we've actually caught something and the fish were biting and it was GREAT! Of course we didn't catch enough to enter our fish but it was still nice to catch fish!

Fred with a trout he caught. He was tickled and so excited.

Fred with a Redfish he caught, one of a few he caught. It wasn't a keeper but still fun to catch.
I actually hooked a large Redfish but as I got him up to the Kayak he snapped the line, grr...So Fred for once out fished me, guess this means I need to practice, lol. I can do that!

As we drove down the beach at Indianola the Shrimp boats were working hard out in Port Lavaca bay...I thought of my friend John and had to get some photos for him :o)

There were a lot of Shrimp boats and they were very very busy!

I saw these two Shrimp boats in Port Lavaca and immediately thought "Buddies"...Then I put the Zoom lens on the camera and laughed when I read the name on the one boat...Karen Renee...My sisters name, cool. Renee is spelled differently but it's still cool, don't you think Karen? You have a shrimp boat in Port Lavaca Texas with your name...
It was a beautiful day and we had fun fishing, kayaking and spending time together...(and yes I had fun even though I didn't bring a fish in, loved watching Fred and taking photos of him)

Friday, August 27 2010 ~ Bridge Update

They were able to pour 4 sections today, yeah!! It's looking good!

It's costing a small fortune but it's going to be worth it. They should finish it next week, fingers crossed.
Tomorrow we have a fishing tournament, back permitting I'm hoping we go out in the Kayaks...Y'all have a Good weekend!

Thursday, August 26th ~ My day in photos

started with a South Texas Sunrise...

And a Boy acting silly with his Marine cap....

Progress on our Bridge over the dry creek bed....It's looking good!

Depending on the weather in the Gulf of Mexico they may start pouring concrete soon, very soon...It's so exciting and we can hardly wait for it to be finished. Stay tuned for more progress photos.
I shredded our front pasture all morning and finished it, yeah. I've moved to the back pasture to shred it and then back here to the house next week. It's looking good...

Bright eyed and Bushy tailed...

For his first day of 2nd grade...

He had a great day!
Was a bit tired and hot when he got home, but loves his teacher and was so happy to see his previous school mates!
We did end up arguing about homework...first day of school and it's already started, sigh! Going to be a long school year regarding homework I'm afraid.

Tomorrows the big day...

Michael starts back to school!

We had a fantastic weekend. Michael's surprise Birthday Party on Saturday went off without a hitch and he was very surprised. (I have over 200 + photos to go through for that.) He loved the party but didn't like the surprise part, lol. More on that later.
~
Today, Sunday, we went to Grandpa's ranch and Michael showed him his new 22 rifle and did some target shooting. (Lots of photos from our visit over there and even a critter too, so stay tuned for those).
~
Tomorrow we are up early and Michael starts his first day of 2nd grade. He is so excited and ready for school. I'm going to miss him but I know he'll have fun and learn a lot too. I have a to do list a mile long and I'm not looking forward to that at all...Summer vacation is over and time to get busy!
