Goliad Market days in the rain...

Fred wasn't able to work on the tractor this morning so we headed out to Market Days in Goliad...I had a date with a few cupcakes. The High-school seniors were having a bake sale and I knew who was making some cupcakes and she does an awesome job!

 

 

 It was pouring but still crowded...

 

 

 Lots of vendors around the courthouse square...

 

 

 Not sure what they were discussing but I don't think Fred was believing a word Michael was saying, lol...

I walked down to the post office to post some letters and did a double take...There was a GMC, Ford, Cadillac, Dodge and Chevy truck all lined up together...Now what are the chances of that happening again just out of the blue? Of course I had to back up and take a photo while chuckling! 

 

 

 Michael had a hard time choose which cupcakes he wanted...He chose the cherry pie cupcake because of the M&M's on it, lol.

And of course he wanted the bugs...

 

 

 

While I chose the prettier ones...the flowers of course!

 And they tasted Mmmm so good too!

 

 Michael sure was doing a lot of ahhing and ohhing while he ate one, lol...delicious!!

We also found a gentleman and his wife selling rocks and minerals (jewelry too)...Michael and I love to collect rocks and minerals and he had some interesting ones and it was really hard choosing too!

 Bismuth is found in Peru as a mineral and then taken to a lab where they grow it...This one was grown at a lab in Germany. Bismuth is found in all sorts of things, makeup for one!

This caught Michael's eye...this actually comes out of the ground like this, Wow!! I googled it and found it very interesting as there will be clusters of this, one growing out of another one...

 

This one caught my eye, I love green. This looks almost like green velvet, so pretty!

 

So far we've had a great day...ate some delicious food/cupcakes and added a few more items to our rock and mineral collection!!

After school Michael went to see Eliane to get his hair cut...Here they are getting ready! Eliane has known Michael since he was a year old and she adores him and I think the feeling is mutual, we adore her! She watched Michael for me when I went back to work...after interviewing 20 or more people that just weren't right we went to Eliane's house. She opened the door and Michael (not even knowing her) ran right into her arms...I knew right then we had found a friend and someone that loved my son as much as I did...

 

 

 

Now she is a great Beautician...and Michael loves how she cuts his hair!

 

 

 

Sheesh Michael has grown so much...

 

 

 

Tonight's sunset as we pulled into the driveway...

 

 

And 10 minutes later at the house. I used a fence post for a tripod and it did wonders!!

I was busying vacuuming the vehicles but managed to grab the camera a couple of times...

 

 

 I saw a Pipevine swallowtail feeding on the Jasmine...Spring is definitely here!

First comes the rain, then the rainbow and then the mud...

We received 1 and 3/10ths of an inch of rain yesterday morning. It was a very welcome sight and we could still use more...

 

 

I was outside trying to get photos of rain drops...and keep my camera dry, ekk!

On the way home from fetching Michael from school we saw the most beautiful rainbow. It was so vivid and bright, did I have the camera? No! Sigh! I went as fast as I could but it was almost gone by the time we got home...

 

 The deer out in the Pasture with the rainbow...did they have a clue as to what was going on? Nope, not one clue but there was a crazy woman with a camera running in the pasture and they didn't like that!

 And then after the rain and the rainbow comes the mud. Fred had worked on the low spot in the driveway this past weekend but it wasn't packed down enough yet...I'm just very thankful I have the jeep and 4-wheel drive...The truck would have never gotten through that without getting stuck! It'll be good in a few days when it drys out.

 

I went down to the property to check and drain a little water out of the pool...I saw this mass of clouds coming in and took a shot of it...When I posted it on facebook someone made the comment that it looks like Mountains in the distance...I agree it does, beautiful!

 

 

Can you identify this plant?

It's the state flower of Texas...It's a bluebonnet. Not ready to bloom yet but they are up and growing, now if I can keep Fred and the tractor away from them :o)

 

 

 When I was coming back up to the front of the property after my walk the deer were waiting. They sure are spoiled and yes I fed them a little bit of corn.

 

So happy to get some rain, now for some sunshine so the grass will grow!

Sunday

Sunday was a busy day for us...I cleaned the pool while Fred fixed a water tap at the property. Then I took Fred out and showed him what the wildflower plants looked like before they bloomed. He went out with the tractor the weekend before and disc'd up (in my opinion played around with the tractor) different spots on the property. What he didn't realize he was doing was disking up my wildflowers, ugh! His excuse is he didn't see any wildflowers, I told him they weren't blooming yet but the plants were there...mind you I said were, they aren't there anymore!!

 

 

While we walked around we saw this little phlox blooming...first wildflower of the season. Fred now understands that just because there aren't blooms doesn't mean the wildflower plants aren't there!!

I've been doing a lot of scrapbooking and keeping up with this years photos. I did the photo of Lydia I took, love how the layout turned out, she's definitely the Queen Bee around here. She keeps us all in line, well maybe except for Jenny!! Jenny kind of thinks she's Queen Bee but what they both don't realize is I am the Queen Bee, lol...

 

Fred also got the 4x4 mule running and Michael was tickled!!

I'm glad Fred got the mule running because I could really use it and I broke Michael's Red flyer wagon hauling rocks, oops!!

 

It was a beautiful day and so glad as we got a lot accomplished! One bad thing though is the water pump went out on the tractor. The parts were ordered and have come in (except for the fan belt) so this next weekend (if the fan belt gets here) we'll be working on getting the tractor fixed. I think it's Murphy's law as we just got the tractor paid off and go figure something would break on it!
