It's Friday...

and I have absolutely no photos to post, ekk!

It's been gorgeous outside but I've been busy doing other things.

The laying hens were Not laying in the nesting boxes...I've found eggs in the flower beds, under the horse trailer and in the pasture...So I worked on getting a bigger pen attached to their coop temporarily. They are penned up for a week or two until they learn that they are suppose to lay in the laying boxes! Today out of 7 laying hens I got 4 eggs, much better than the one or two I was getting. One hen is trying to sit but I won't give her any eggs to sit on, we do not need more chicks right now, so she isn't laying. The Americauna chicks are 3 months old and getting big. I'm watching them closely to see who might be a rooster or a hen. I'm afraid once again we are going to have more roosters than hens, sigh!

Today I met the library ladies for breakfast and ran a few errands. I also trimmed Jake up and clipped his toe nails, I hate doing that. And then this evening Michael and I sat outside next to the firepit roasting Marshmallows. When Fred got home Michael went inside and Fred and I sat outside, enjoying the fire and chatting. It was nice.

It was one of those days...

Earlier today I called Michael's Dentist to get make an appointment for him. He was a month over due for his exam and thought it would take another 3 weeks to get him in, but they had a cancellation this afternoon, yeah! So after school we were off to Corpus on a 3-4 hour round trip drive. He had a great check up and no cavities!

On the way home I was in a hurry to get Michael home before bedtime but wanted to take a few photos. We stopped in Bayside and I was hoping to see the Osprey I always see there. I spotted some White Ibis and whistling ducks, and then I looked up above the truck and there was the Osprey, ekk. We were too close and I couldn't move because of traffic and where I was parked, sigh! I got the lens and camera ready and jumped out of the truck...

And got photos of him flying away....with White Ibis and Whistling ducks in the background. Not the greatest photo but you get the idea...I tried!

Bye-Bye Mr. Osprey, so sorry didn't mean to scare you away. I really hate it when I scare birds that is not my intention. That's what I get for being in a hurry and not paying attention :o(

White Ibis

As we left Bayside and drove near the Mission River Michael spotted this flock of birds, Wow! I got excited, really excited. I honestly thought it was snow geese. I was driving and they were pretty far away but I stopped on the side of the road and jumped out for a few photos. Because of where we parked and being in a hurry I didn't take time to get the binoculars out or take a better look at my photos. We drove down the road and I tried to find a different road that would get me closer to the flock but there wasn't one, sigh! I would just have to pass and hope I got a good enough photo to identify them...The photo isn't great but I know they are NOT snow geese...It was a HUGE flock of White Pelicans. Still pretty cool and wish I could have gotten closer to them.

I was happy Michael had no cavities but hate being rushed like I was today and was slightly disappointed in my photos for the day...On the bright side there is always another day :o)

My friend John and fellow nature photographer went to Aransas National Wildlife Refuge Saturday and got some wonderful photos...I am so jealous!

But then spending time with my boys, eating shrimp gumbo and riding carnival rides was pretty fun...but I think a trip to the refuge is in my future :o)

Coast Guard to the Rescue...

At the Rockport Seafair the Coast Guard came in and did a training exercise. We sat and watched and took lots and lots of photos, it was pretty neat to watch.

Rockport Seafair...

Fred woke me up at 4am Saturday morning and said "Let's Go"! Yikes...He took us to breakfast then we ran some errands...Sheesh it was early! Then we headed out on the highway...I had two choices...I picked Rockport and the SeaFair!

Fred took this photo of Michael and I on the Parachute drop ride, not bad! Michael wanted to go and then didn't like it, he wanted off! He wanted to go on the Zipper and I said NO!! I've taken children on the Zipper and I won't do it again, no sir!

The library ladies in their old age?... and then Fred said hey look it's your Mom and her sisters, LMBO...I love to people watch and love seeing older ladies dressed up ready to PARTY! You Go Girls!!

We had a GREAT day!! So much to see and do, thanks Fred for taking us...next time can we at least sleep in until 6am though :o)
