I survived...Day 5 of Spring Break is over

At least my brain is intact, not sure about my body though, ugh! I am hurting at the moment but hoping tomorrow everything will be good. Michael and I spent the day at Aransas National Wildlife refuge. We decided to do something we've never done before and that is cover almost all the walking trails in one visit. I think we skipped 2 trails but we covered most of them. I'm sore but we had fun and some of the trails I had never been down before.

I did manage to fill up an 8GB memory card, ugh! I have gone through the photos and deleted all the blurry ones and repeats but I have not re-sized or edited the Raw files as of yet. I'm whooped and thinking the bed and kindle are sounding really good about now.

After we got home this afternoon Michael wanted to fly his kite and I scrapped together the last of my energy and obliged him. He got his kite up and was doing great, then I think he had a brain fart. He managed to land it in the tallest and biggest Mesquite tree in the pasture, sigh. I was not happy, nope not one bit. After attempting to pull it out and just tangling it worse, I climbed the tree. A woman in her 40's is not suppose to climb trees, it's just NOT done! After getting sliced up by 2 inch thorns, yes Mesquite trees have very large thorns, and screaming at Michael several times not to stand under Momma in case she falls...I got the kite out of the tree, yeah! It's missing part of it's tail but I got the main part out of the tree and managed to climb down without breaking anything!! WooHoo!

Thurs. March 17 2011 - Spring Break Day 4

Today we met up with Helen and Ashley and visited the Victoria zoo once again...

Rosetta spoonbill up close and personal. He flew down and landed on a railing right in front of us...too cool.

Ashley and Michael weren't too sure about that beak on the spoonbill, lol.
~

Then a parrot climbed down and chatted with us for a bit. The kids seemed to know what it was saying but I didn't have a clue, it was still hilarious listening to it talk.

After what happened with the Green jay later on I think Helen was drawing the birds to us. She's not a bird person but they seemed to love her.

Helen was throwing a fit because I kept taking photos of her, which I didn't post most of them here, so I gave her the camera and said HERE!!

Then she started getting in my face, real close...I asked her "What are you doing?"...Her reply "Trying to get photos of the boogers in your nose", Oh Helen how I love you!! And no I am not posting those photos...thank you!! They magically disappeared from my memory card :o)

The Zoo sure was more fun the second time around with Helen and Ashley.

We went and ate lunch and then Ashley came home with us.

I splurged and got Michael and Ashley each a kite and we spent some time flying kites. It took us awhile to find a spot where the trees were few and far between and the wind was blowing. Michael finally managed to get his kite up in the air and then I managed to get Ashley's up for her...they loved it!

We had a great day, stay tuned for tomorrows adventure. It will be our 5th and last day of Spring break, I'm whooped! Time for a couple of days off to rest and recoup.

Weds. March 16 2011 - Spring Break Day 3

Today we traveled to Corpus Christi for an adventure aboard the U.S.S. Lexington.

Corpus Christi beach and getting busy...Definitely Spring Break. I've never seen that many people at the beach at 9:45am, ekk.

We really enjoyed our time on the U.S.S. Lexington today. Michael seemed to show more interest in the different areas and I loved that. We got there at about 9:45am and by 11am it started to get busy so we headed home.

The road between Rufugio, through Bayside to Hwy 35 near Portland was a blanket of pink (pink evening primrose), gorgeous.

~

We stopped downtown Goliad to check out a friends new store and I took a few photos while there...Very nice and loved being able to take my time and browse all the goodies.

~
Michael enjoyed his day and has told me Thank you numerous times. I also renewed our membership to the Blue Ghost (U.S.S. Lexington) and he was just tickled.

Today I used my Wide angle lens 10 - 22mm for all photos.

Tomorrow another adventure and a bit closer to home...The Zoo again but with friends this time :o)
