Morning outside our house...

I wandered the yard this morning with the Macro lens...

Caught another male Rubythroat with the camera. The males seem to be a little skittish where the females fly right up to me and buzz me.

See his many eyes...spooky!

Our Amercauna chicks are growing up!

I just started letting the chicks out to free range. I normally wait until afternoon to do this. But this morning I let them out as soon as the sun was up. I came around the house to get some photos this morning I saw a shadow fly by me...grr...it was a hawk! He flew off but I stayed outside with the chicks for awhile to make sure the hawk didn't come back. Guess I'd best wait to let them out until the hawks have eaten their breakfast :o)

When the rain comes...

Hermine = 8 inches of rain

As of tonight we have received a total of 8 inches of rain and it's made for some pretty interesting photos...

This morning I went down to the property for more photos and to see how the Bridge was holding up...

Looking West and a whole lot more water flowing than the day before...

Hard to believe that last Saturday this was a DRY creek bed!

When they poured the first section of Concrete I signed it...Wasn't sure what to say so I made it plain and simple...

Ugh lots of water in the swale hole...I wanted to go to Coleto Creek but wasn't to keen on walking through this. I have seen water moccasins in this when it has water in it...After standing and watching for awhile and not seeing any movement I decided to walk it.

Coleto Creek now looking like a raging river. It's bad but I've seen it a lot worse, like all the way up to the fork of that tree...Might be higher tomorrow.

Coming back up towards the front I saw this snail on a floating piece of wood. I chuckled as he looked kind of funny floating around.

Rain drops on roses...well it's not a rose but a wild morning glory!

I took part of the plastic off the concrete on the bridge and found quiet a few scorpions hiding under it, ekkk...

This one was crawling around trying to hide under my boot...Hmmm guess I'd best wait until I have gloves to move the rest of the plastic...and yes I did squash this baby!! Bye Bye Scorpion!

Later this afternoon after picking Michael up from school we went down to the Bridge on the main road...Always have to take a photo of the bridge when it is under water...Makes you realize how much rain we actually got!

We found this moth and of course I had to get a photo of it...Michael thought he was beautiful and I thought it was pretty cool.

Quack Quack...Julie is feeling a wee bit Ducky, lol.

I was sitting outside watching the hummingbirds this evening. There are a lot of them and they are swarming the feeders. I wondered if I could stand next to the feeders and try for photos with my Macro lens...Here is my attempt, sheesh they are fast!

Cool, I got a great shot of a male Rubythroat...I just love their colors! I might have to try this again tomorrow night.

I had fun with the camera today...I even saw a few dead copperhead snakes on the road but decided to pass up on photos of them, lol. We had an absolutely gorgeous sunset but I was on the road and didn't bring my camera, sigh! I know better than that and regret it...

Hermine = 6 inches of Water

I checked the bridge on our property this morning after a night of rain...and then Michael and I went down there this evening, here's a few photos from our adventure...

This morning as I was walking back to the truck.

The driveway still needs a lot of work!

This evening the water was a bit higher and thank goodness the bridge held...It isn't finished yet but we had a communication problem with the contractor, so we are still working on it. Hopefully the sides won't erode in the meantime. Also very nice to be able to get across the dry creek bed when it rains.

Michael was checking out the water and turned to find me taking photos of him...Surprise your on Candid camera!

I looked up and the clouds were gorgeous...

Hummingbirds ~ September 6 2010

We were in between rain bands with Tropical storm Hermine and I sat out in the yard to watch and take photos of the Hummingbirds. I saw approx. 15 different Hummingbirds. They're fall migration has definitely begun.

I used the flash on the photo above...

I could sit and watch hummers all day and Fred even noticed them today and was laughing at their dive bombing techniques...
