(for getting 100% on his

accelerated reading test)!

Nothing exciting just

Misc. photos from this evening...

Went to feed the deer at the property this evening and captured a couple of photos...

 

American Kestrel, known by the older generation as a sparrow hawk. I've never seen them go after a sparrow but I do see them catch a lot of grasshoppers. One of my favorite birds from the time I was a little girl...Just love their colors and markings!

It's been cold and windy here but you would think Spring was here as I've noticed a lot of birds out and about. I suppose they are just trying to keep moving to stay warm.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Something different...

 

 

I've been seeing other digital scrapbookers and paper scrapbookers do their daily digital, weekly and or monthly scrapbooking the past few years. I've never committed to this as sometimes I don't have the time or just don't feel like it. But this year I was liking what I saw in the kits that have come out.

Now came the tough decision did I want to do digital or paper scrapping?

I liked this Core Kit (which is paper), here it is on Amazon and here is part of it on Elise Blaha's blog. And then today on facebook Weeds and Wildflowers designs showed a digital kit called "Life in a Box", wow! It caught my eye, easy and simple.

It finally came down to cost...The items I wanted to do the Core kit with were going to cost me quiet a bit and the Life in a Box kit was reasonably priced and I could use the digital items over and over again...So I went with "Life in a Box" from Weeds and Wildflowers. I worked with part of the kit tonight and loved it. I did have problems loading some of their templates and I'm hoping tomorrow we can get that straightened out. But in the mean time I really liked how easy everything was and look I accomplished 4 layouts for January, WooHoo!!

I decided I am not going to be consistent on whether I'm doing daily, weekly and or monthly but mix them all up. I don't think it matters as long as there is a date and journaling to tell the story behind the photos...

Baby it's cold out...

 

Julie asked for her blanket this afternoon, the temps are dropping and at the moment it's 40 degrees F. outside and falling...

 

I obliged and she's a happy horse now!

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Creek is flowing...

I took these photos the other day, it seems 5+ inches of rain was enough to fill the creek and get the water flowing, yeah!

 

Not sure how many fish survived but it sure is nice to see the water moving along.

 

 

Go West young man...(except he's pointing East, lol)

 

 

The part we call "The Kids Pool" was overflowing...Maybe we'll be able to go fishing soon?

 

 

He was fix'in to get his shoes wet, luckily he didn't fall in. We are so thankful for the rain and were so excited to see the creek had water flowing in it...

She's keeping my feet warm today...I love her!

I decided to get the Macro lens out, my favorite and I've missed it! I don't use it much in the winter as there aren't many flowers or bugs to photograph.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A visitor at the bird feeder this morning...

 

I had the camera and was watching the feeder this morning when I noticed a bird with more yellow than the American Goldfinches...Hmmm?

 

 

There is a stranger in that mix...

 

 

 

Upon further investigation I think this little one is a Pine Warbler and it seems they winter down here...

 

 

He was cold and all fluffed up...(we had another arctic front come in last night)

 

 

The hummingbirds were hitting the feeder this morning hot and heavy and I managed a few captures of the Berylline Humminbird. This was the best one, they sure are quick with this cold weather.

Pine Warbler, see the difference in their beaks and coloring? I know there's a branch in the way, sigh!

 

 

And lets not forget the dear little Chickadees...

I also noticed another visitor an American Tree Sparrow...Now my books say it doesn't winter this far South but I also know books can be wrong...
