Caterpillars and Bugs

The creeks and rivers were flooding earlier this week. One of our roads was closed and Michael and I went to check it out...with all the rain the caterpillars and bugs are out in full force. It's refreshing to see green and having fun playing with my Macro lens.

Pipevine swallowtail caterpillar.

Not real sure on the identification on this one...possibly a moth.

Baby grasshopper...grr

I'm clueless on this one...I thought it was cool.

Red saddlebag Dragonfly

Another one that is not in my reference books...it could be a moth and is similar to the eight spotted forester caterpillar.

That is all the bug photos I have at the moment. I saw a water scorpion in the garden the other day but the photos weren't clear. We have a lot of butterflies fluttering around but they aren't in the mood to pose...

Gulf Fritillary

Michael and I found this Gulf Fritillary at a local conveinance story while on a frozen coke run...I brought it home and put it on the lantana for a photo shoot!

Red Red Roses

We had a brief shower the other morning and I had 5 rose blooms open...Couldn't resist playing with the camera.

This is a story...

of two girls and how they met.
Once upon a time there were two little girls. A red headed Northern girl and a Brown headed Texan girl. The lived on opposite sides of the country and the only thing they could think of was “HORSES”! When they grew up the Northern girl moved to the same grand state as the Texan girl. They still didn’t know each other existed but they still had horses on the brain. The Northern girl moved into a bunk house inside a barn with her horse and the Texan girl moved with her husband and daughter to the same town. Then one day the Northern girl heard the Texan girl chatting with her husband in the barn aisle way and thought to herself hmm is this another crazy person? Later they introduced themselves and become the greatest of friends. And what always amazes them is that their children are the greatest of friends too! They lived happily ever after and still love horses!

My last layout for Jessica Spragues class Typewriter I, whew!!!!!!
And it's a good thing I finished it too, as today Typewriter II starts, Ekkk....I'm just a glutton for punishment!!
~
I've got so many photos that I haven't posted and I hope that I can get to them soon! Dawn and Dacey are coming tomorrow evening and (I think) staying until Saturday!! Michael and I are both excited!! He keeps asking is it Tuesday yet? lol...He isn't happy about being in school while Dacey is here but Dacey has doctors appts. in Corpus to keep her busy!! It will be interesting though getting them settled and to sleep at night, Ekk...
~
This past weekend we received 3 inches of rain. Yoakum a town North of us received 14 inches for the weekend...let the floods begin!! The creeks and rivers are up and flooding...So far we are high and dry. I'm just thankful we did NOT get 14 inches of rain...No rain today but it's fix'in to start raining Tuesday night, gulp!! Everything is GREEN!! The bugs are out in full force. Lots of butterflies, caterpillars and Mosquito's!! We won't mention the 's' word and NO I haven't seen any but you can be sure they are headed to high ground!

Fall Festival

Michael's school held their annual fall festival this past weekend. The rain stayed away for most of it and I'm pretty sure everyone had a blast. Michael definitely did!
The first thing he had to do was ride the train...This was made by some parents and I think they did a great job!! The children really enjoyed it!

They had so much for the kids to do...Here's Michael trying out the cork guns!! My sweet little left-handed peanut head!! He writes with his right hand and does everything else with his left hand...I get a bit confused at times, lol...I'm sure Michael does too as Momma shows him how to do everything right handed, Oops!!

Here he is trying to kick a soccer ball into a tiny itty bitty hole if you ask me...sheesh!! Gotta love that form though, lol.

They had a bouncy house too and yep Michael is in it somewhere and NO I was not climbing in there for photo ops either!!

Here is Betsy with her son Jacob throwing the ball in the ball toss...He made it too!! Jacob needs to come over and teach Michael!!

Michael did win the Toy Walk!! He was so excited and I was laughing so hard at him!! Fred was taking photos!!

Gotta love his silly faces!!

We had some friends show up!! Yep Angie, Johnny, Yvonne and Gene came!! It was so nice to see them and spend time with them...Thanks y'all for coming! Oh and Grandpocka, Grandma, Tia Annana (Aunt Diana), Miranda and Gary showed up too, but oops no photos!

They had a cake decorating contest and I took some photos of a few of my favorites...Aren't they gorgeous Helen?
Pink Zebra cake.

Frankenstein!

Caterpillar.

Spaghetti and meatballs, too sweet!

They also had a live auction.
Below are the items (Patio stuff) that Michael's class put together for the auction!

It was a very long afternoon/evening...I think we got home at 9:30pm and we were soo tired. We bid on a few items at the live auction but only won one bid...A sports package! Michael was in the gym watching a movie so he was pretty surprised when we started taking our items out to the truck...Soccer ball and goal, magnetic dart board, 2 basketballs, 2 dodge balls, tennis racket and balls, etc...Plenty of stuff! After watching him try to throw and kick in the game area I decided we need to get busy and teach Michael to play sports!!

Ms. Raquel

We were able to go see little Ms. Raquel today...She is a sweetheart!
Raquel with her Mom and Dad!

Raquel with Grandpa.

So sweet :o)

Uh Oh!

Uncle Michael checking out his new neice!
Fred had (Dallas) Cowboy on the brain today so we didn't get to stay long. I got a few photos! I didn't want to use the flash as it's so bright! (I did use it once). So I stuck with the 50mm lens and being in a hurry (which I hate) managed a few decent ones. The photos on my blog are resized and saved for the web one reason the quality isn't great but if you go to my flickr site you can see much better ones and all of the ones I took. Hopefully I'll get more soon.
Raquel is a sweetheart and oh so tiny!! I'm so glad we got to spend a few minutes with her.
