What was at the bird feeder today...

It's a wee bit chilly out but I took the tripod and camera out to the front porch for 15 minutes to see who was visiting the bird feeder...

Tufted Titmouse

I love watching the birds they always make me laugh with their antics.

American Goldfinch (Winter plumage)

That seed looks a might bit big for you...

 Northern Cardinal

Love that splash of red on a dreary winter day.

Carolina Chickadee
The chickadees are always clowning around, they are still a bit skittish and I'm hoping they get use to me so I can try for more photos.

That is all the birds I saw in 15 minutes. As the Holiday season winds down I'm hoping I have more time to spend outside with the camera. I took the Christmas tree down today, along with all our Christmas decorations. Jenny has her bed back where it belongs and she's snoozing away.

Kite flying kind of day...

Michael had grabbed his kite and was out the door before I could say Boo! Pretty soon I heard him yelling for me and I grabbed the camera and headed out the door too. He had a great idea, it's a perfect day for flying a kite!

I was pretty proud of him too as he got it up all by himself and kept it up too.

He was having fun and thank goodness for a nice brisk breeze...

Happy Boy!

Christmas break...

Michael had his Christmas party at school today and they also had pajama day too as their class scored perfect attendance too. He was so excited about wearing his pj's to school and also excited about his party and also excited as it was the last day of school for a week...Love my son when he's happy! It was a busy day for him, after school I took him to see the movie "Hobbit".
He had finished the audio book last week and couldn't wait to see the movie. He liked the movie but was shocked that there was a lot in the movie that was not in the book. Throughout the movie I kept hearing "Mom that wasn't in the book"..."Mom that wasn't in the book"...And then he was a bit upset that they ended the movie where they did..."Mom they didn't finish the book". I told him that is because they make the movies to make money and more than likely they'll make another movie for the rest of the book. So now he can't wait for the next Hobbit movie to come out. It was nice to spend the day with my boy and relax a bit.
Things are going to be hectic for the next couple of days as it seems I've been volunteered by my husband to cook and prepare the food for his family's Christmas. Wish he would have asked me, and it's a good thing I love him, as I am doing this for him. Not sure if he'll be home or working as it happens a lot around here, I'll be stuck doing pretty much everything. Hopefully I'll have time for some photos here and there.
Hope y'all have a great rest of your week and a wonderful start to the weekend!

Messing around in the kitchen...

Grandma isn't here so I broke down and made sugar cookies with Michael. I had never made sugar cookies before so it was an adventure...

 Michael was having fun!

 My little Alien...

 Michael's airplane...

 He had a blast...

Then tonight I decided to make cupcakes with buttercream frosting...
Michael came in and helped me with those too. He said yuck to the green frosting and I said why? Because it's lime flavored...Oh Michael it is just colored green, it doesn't taste like limes. I finally got him to try one and he was like Yumm!!

Not sure what we are going to do with all these treats...I've been told the school has plenty of sweets and for the Naranjo Christmas all the deserts have been made by others...

Does anyone want some cupcakes?

Forever and Always

Christmas is in the air and things are getting a might bit hectic. But today in the middle of the day instead of taking a nap I asked if you wanted to go for a bike ride and you said YES! So off we went and before we left I grabbed the point and shoot camera and this is my favorite photo I took of you. Carefree and happy, flying along on your bike! Michael when I am not with you where am I? You shout back in my heart Momma! You are absolutely right Michael! And who else is there with you? God, Momma! You are correct again Michael! Such a sweet smart boy! I LOVE YOU Forever and Always!!

Oh Christmas tree...

I honestly wasn't going to put up a tree this year...just tired, hurting and not in the mood. I had several friends urge me on and I finally decided to surprise Michael. So while he was at school one day last week I put the tree up...It's a gorgeous tree but takes 3 to 4 hours to put it up.

The tree skirt brings back wonderful memories of my Step-father John. He made it for me and I love it!

Jenny was attempting to help and thought the tree skirt was her new bed, NOT!

The tree is up and still fluffing the branches...

 Almost done...a few more ornaments!

It is done, yeah! Michael came home from school and the sparkle in his eyes when he saw it made it all worthwhile!

Nature photos from the past week...

I've been taking photos through out the week, just haven't been posting them. I was actually trying to get a photo of the hummingbirds that are still here, there is a buff bellied and a berryline hummer still here. We had a hard freeze this past week and the hummingbird feeder froze up during the night and they were trying to drink from it. I ended up bringing it in the house and putting fresh sugar water in it for them. They were happy then. I didn't manage to get a photo of the hummers but I did manage to get some decent photos of the Killdeer in the pasture.

My hibiscus got frosted and the birdbath was full of ice.

The cardinals managed to find the new feeders I put out.

Two mommas watching the young ones to see what they're up too...

This young one was stalking the bird feeder...

She didn't care if I was standing right there or not either

The other young one was watching the stalker and me and there was no way she was coming over there, nope, no sir...

I wasn't able to get a photo of the hummingbird but I did manage to get a photo of the butterfly. I think he and or she was trying to figure out how to get to the sugar water in the feeder. The wasp have it figured out but not the butterflies....

And we celebrated Fred's Birthday
