TGIF....

Gorgeous sunrise this morning and a absolutely beautiful day...

Just after I took this photo I noticed the neighbors Brahmas were out in the road. I rushed through my morning chores and called to let them know their whole herd (20 or so) were in the road.
She informed me her husband was out of town so I told her I'd help get them in. Thank goodness they went in easy. They'd just sold off the calves so we didn't have them to deal with them, just the cows and bull. She drove the feed truck, honking the horn while I opened the gate and they all followed her into the pasture, easy as pie.
She was going to call a man they hire to help them out, to come fix fence.
Then we sat down there talking for 2 hours. Love the slow country life and talking with the neighbors for hours on end. We watched the deer wandering and the cows as they stood around us chewing their cuds. Lots of people drove by waving at us. Beautiful morning for a chat. Seems I have a new egg customer too, yeah! The new hens started laying in August and we have a fridge full of eggs. There are a lot of people that want them but they aren't willing to drive out here for them and I'm certainly not going to drive 20 miles to deliver $2 worth of eggs...I got invited to a women's group in the neighborhood where they get together to eat lunch, play bingo and of course gossip, lol. Sounds like it might be fun. Really enjoyed visiting with her and hope I get to see her more often, she was very nice. It was nice to slow down and visit.
Now it's time to get back on track and get some things done around here, Thank goodness it is Friday, always a great feeling knowing you made it through another week.

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

A Brrr Cold Morning in South Texas...

The sunrise was glorious this morning...

~

I climbed up on top and was taking photos of the beautiful sunrise when I noticed I had an audience. I know they were sending me vibes..."FEED US, WE NEED FOOD!!"

The morning glories were beautiful up there...wish I hadn't been shivering maybe the photo wouldn't have been so blurry :) That North wind was chilly!!

I took over 20 photos of the sunrise, just couldn't help myself!

Then I looked North West and the morning sky was beautiful. I'm kind of partial to pinks and blue!

Here's hoping y'all have a great day!
Stay warm!

Before the Cold front came in early this afternoon....

I was at the property working when I took a break. As I sat on the deck I saw the butterflies on the Zinnia's and decided to take some photos...

Love the Zinnia's the colors are so vibrant

Pipevine Swallowtails were everywhere

Gulf Fritillary, love these butterflies. This one had a run in with the Praying Mantis. She tore off one of its wings. This Fritillary can't fly now but it's all part of nature, the fire ants will finish him off, circle of life. Not always pleasant but it happens.

Pipevine Swallowtail

Hunting...The Praying Mantis is in a good spot. She's had several butterflies, you can see the wing of one in the bloom below.

Fritillary with it's wings open...
I've been trying for weeks to get a decent photo of a Gulf Fritillary and today before the front blew in the butterflies seemed to be moving slower than normal. I was so busy watching the butterflies I wasn't paying attention to the weather or sky. I turned around after a bit and said Uh Oh!! The sky was turning black and it was time for me to get home!

We received an inch of rain. Not near enough but certainly better than nothing. The temps dropped dramatically and tomorrow is going to be a lot cooler than 80 degrees!

Taking a break...

Fred and I decided to take a break from hunting. The season last until January and right now the bucks are spooked pretty bad. We will continue to feed and sit and watch but more than likely we won't be hunting until the bucks calm down and everyone is pretty much done hunting. Tonight I went down and fed then sat and watched and of course I set up the camera and took a few photos too!

Got an itch...

Yummy Pumpkin

Meadowlark

Sandhill Cranes heading South...

Her wound is healing...

I was waiting for a fight but all she did was put her hoof on the other does back. The other doe continued to eat and the one took her hoof off her back and walked away. Possibly a show of dominance?

The youngsters were really skittish...

Normally they would walk up and eat but not tonight...

He's just not sure...

It was a beautiful weekend, hope y'all have a great week!
