Wow Weds.

It started as a very foggy day and turned into a physical and mentally exhausting day. But no complaints as we had fun. I got up first thing this morning and the fog was terrible. I was outside and saw one of the cows had a new calf. The calf was adorable and I couldn't resist grabbing my camera and taking a few photos. I then was getting ready to run to town when I received a phone call from my Brazilian friend that her new daughter in law, Ana was homesick and having a hard time. So Michael and I picked Ana up, took her to lunch, ran errands, did a bit of shopping (we needed night crawlers (worms)), and brought her to the house and went fishing. We were back at the house in time for me to make dinner for everyone. Yes Fred came home this evening. I then sat down with Ana and we worked on her English. She doesn't speak English but she did FANTASTIC today and tonight. She is learning and with patience and hard work will speak English soon. I will probably in turn learn Portuguese as she has been teaching me!! LOL...Now if I could only learn Spanish (Tex-Mex) my husbands family language I'd be doing really good but after 4 yrs it still alludes me. I'm just not a language person, ugh!!

Michael with one of his fish that he caught. If you can believe it my 4 yr old son outfished me today, LOL...that is slightly embarassing!! But alas I was the hook baiter and barely had time to cast my own line in the water.

Michael and Ana with Ana's first American fish!!

Ana enjoying her first catch of the day!!

There is funny story to this fish. She loves to fish and when she caught it she was just tickled about it. I walked over to her and she started freaking out and I thought what is going on...She likes to fish why is she so frightened of it...Well I glanced over my shoulder and (lol) there was a snake not 3 feet from us in the water eye-balling us, Ekkkk....I swatted at him with my fishing pole and he disappeared!! We both laughed at it because here I thought she was afraid of the fish and it was a snake...and her not speaking English she couldn't tell me what the problem was....We saw probably 5 snakes down at the creek today...I have never seen that many down there and I'm still not sure why they were there...We really had to keep our eyes open and after awhile we had had enough!! It isn't much fun when your trying to fish and you have to keep watching for snakes!!!

I love this photo of Ana and her fish!!

The newborn calf.

It was foggy and the hazy photo was not the fault of me or the camera.

Goliad and Misc photos

On the way home today I decided to stop in Goliad at the Fort and Mission for some quick photos. I've never shown any on my blog but Goliad has a lot of history. I didn't stay long as Michael wanted to go home. But maybe someday I'll go back and take some more.

This is a photo of the Presido La Bahia (Fort) from the top of a hill. It's a pretty neat and interesting place and I've been in it several times. http://www.presidiolabahia.org/ here is the link if you'd like to read more about it...A very sad story in Texas History regarding Colonel Fannin and his troops.
Another view of the Presidio La Bahia
The bell tower of the Presidio La Bahia.

Then we have the Mission. This is the Mission Espiritu Santo and also part of Goliad State park. They've recently painted it and it is beautiful. Here is the link for it http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/goliad_and_mission_espiritu_santo/

Violet Ruella (some mistakenly call it a wild petunia)

I spotted this little beauty in the dry creek bed of our driveway. I had spotted them a few weeks ago but when I went back to take a photo something had eaten the blooms. So today when I spotted more blooms I immediately jumped out of the truck and snapped a few photos.

Driving back from Corpus Christi

Here are the Photos I took on the way home from our trip to Corpus.

This is part of the Marina at the Bay front in Corpus Christi.

Coast Guard planes flying over Bayside.
Planes like these fly near our house almost every day of the week and Michael and I always run out of the house to watch them. They're beautiful and today when I stopped in Bayside to take photos they flew over, obviously fairly low too!! I couldn't resist a few snapshots!

Great Egret.
My bird photos really sucked today. I so need a telephoto lense but since it's not on the priority list I have to make do....
Great Blue Heron

Tri-colored heron with the great Egret.

Osprey.
I spotted this guy this morning on my way to Corpus but because we were running late I didn't have time to stop and get his photo, boohoo!! But when we came home today he was practically in the same spot. I didn't want to get to close to him so this is the best I could do photo wise...He looked to be a young immature Osprey and he was watching me, lol.

Cormorant

Proud as a Pea Hen...

I am so PROUD of our little MAN today. He had a dentist appt. at 8am this morning in Corpus Christi and he was a real little trooper. They sedated him with Demoril and then used Laughing gas and he didn't raise one bit of fuss. He had 5 cavities filled! I really liked the dentist and the ladies that worked with him. They were all so good with Michael. I was so tickled I took him to Toys 'R' us before we came home and he got to pick out a reasonably priced toy...A very large Huey Helecopter with a jeep and all kinds of goodies on it and he is loving it!!

Here's our Boy after his dentist appt. at the Corpus Chrisit Bay front checking out the Marina.
I took lots of photos on our way home so stay tuned and I'll upload them later, a nap sounds good at the moment, LOL

Michael answering questions!

After the Roll video I thought I'd ask Michael a few questions...

Michael and his rolls

Michael was watching tv this morning and the show had the kids doing Rolls (summersaults)...So Michael has been doing them all day and I thought I'd video tape him. At the end I asked him where he learned to do summersaults and it was all I could do NOT to laugh at him as he thought I was talking about salt...Remember they are not summersaults but rolls!!
