Video of Carolina Wren Singing

I took this video this morning when I heard the little guy outside my window. It's a pretty bouncy video as I did not use the tripod...so if you get dizzy turn up the volume, close your eyes and listen instead, lol...The little birdy is in the middle of the screen...He kept hiding in the branches of the Crepe Myrtle and wasn't cooperating for the camera!

Bird Photos

Today I was outside trying the bird photos again...

Red-shouldered Hawk
(I'm pretty sure that is what it is but I could be wrong)

Northern Cardinal.

(Not the photo I'm looking for but not to bad.)

I thought this photo of a cardinal was hilarous...he had just jumped off the branch to fly away...caught in mid-jump...looks almost like it is getting ready to attack me! Or jumping up and down saying Na Na Na you can't get a photo of me!!

Ladder-backed woodpecker

Our Carolina Wren is back. I heard him this morning singing his heart out in the top of the Crepe Myrtle but I couldn't get a decent shot of him...

The photos above and below are American Goldfinches in their winter plumage.

Misc. Photos from Weds Morning

A note to all; before using your camera check your settings, lol...
I had it set on Tungsten instead of daylight and it makes a difference when your outside in full daylight taking photos...at first I thought something was wrong with the camera but then realized I needed to change the settings...It's heck getting OLD!! LOL...

Chipping Sparrow
These little birds are regular visitors to the bird feeder and they are getting used to me standing out there...I am so hoping the Cardinals will get used to me!!

Here is Ralph, our outdoor cat. I would call him a barn cat but we don't have a barn, lol...He got tore up pretty bad last spring/summer. We honestly didn't think he was going to make it but he did...he's slowed down a bit but doing fine.

Ahh and here is my little sun worshiper, in her sunny spot!! Good Morning Missy Girl!!

Boys at work, work hard boys, work hard!!

My two boys working hard!!

Fred's rig is down and he is home for awhile. Today he decided to work on the air compressor and Michael was helping. I was sitting here at my desk answering emails and I could hear them out on the front porch and was chuckling! Then I thought to myself "Idiot go get some photos!" It wasn't easy as Michael is half-dressed, which is the Norm around here but I managed and love to see these two working together...A true Father and Son moment if you ask me!!

~ Some time to myself ~

Today I received some peace and quiet and I was loving it!!

Fred took Michael with him and went over to his parents ranch. I was home alone and just had so many things that I could do I didn't know what to do...LOL
I finally decided to try my hand at fishing and photos down at the creek! Didn't do so hot with either one but I had fun trying!! I also found out our creek has split and found some more great fishing holes to try.
The kids fishing hole...I am looking West here!

This is either a redtailed hawk or a redshouldered hawk. I was just to far away to identify him or get a good photo of him. He was chattering and screeching and then down stream I could hear another hawk talking to him...

I kept seeing this little bird but it was hard to find him with the camera so I just pointed and took a shot...Can you see the bird? Kind of like "Where's Wally?"

Ruby-crowned Kinglet

Ahh here is the little bugger...he's watching me fish and probably laughing at me too!!

Downy Woodpecker, he sure was making a racket tapping on trees!

I caught a Bass, lol....the one and only fish I caught. I looked this up, as there are so many types of bass down here. I wanted to find out exactly what type it was....It is a guadalupe or spotted bass and part of the Black Bass family. Personally I would have called it a large mouth Bass!

I was standing down on our gravel bar looking up towards our property and down the creek to give you idea of how steep the bank is...When it floods the water has been all the way to the top of the bank. That is a lot of water!

Looking down our creek towards the East, basically standing in the middle of the creek on the gravel bar and looking at the otherside of the kids pool.

This was a swale hole...now we've added Bull rock and can drive over it. It used to be full of water when it rained or when it was really wet out...This is one of the improvement projects we've been working on last fall...

This was the other hawk the one down by the creek was talking too...Just to far for a decent photo!!

Well that is it folks, my peace and quiet is over with...Now back to the real world!!
