Macro and critters

I was out in the pasture shredding when I looked up at the Mesquite tree I was next too and spotted this guy...Wow he was gorgeous!!
Of course I had to stop the tractor and ran to the house to get the clippers. I cut the branch he was on and brought him up to the house for a photo session...
Isn't he cool...Fred came out of the house to see why I had stopped shredding, oops! He just shook his head and went over to the tractor and started shredding...Yea! That left me with the camera and time to take some photos...and if you can believe it I was able to identify the caterpillar above...he will actually turn into a species of Spinx Moth. If you click below it will take to the identification page.
SPHINGICAMPA HUBBARDI
I'm not good with Latin so don't even ask me to pronounce that name but it says they are easy keepers and like Honey Mesquite trees. So I was going to take him into Michael's teacher to share with the students. I left him out on the front porch in a plastic case. The next morning when I went outside it seems something turned the case over and the caterpillar had disappeared, grrr...I was so looking forward to sharing him with the children, sigh! I'm glad I was able to get some photos.

After I finished the photo session with the above caterpillar I found some more subjects to practice my Macro skills on...
Green lynx spider

Moth hiding on a T-post out of the wind.

Still haven't been able to identify this one but I loved this close up of his head.

Unidentified but still a cool close-up

Beetle
And yet another grasshopper...
That is all the time I had, I didn't want to push my luck :o)

I'm starting a Texas photo link-up on my blog, hopefully next week. Basically, I'll write a post about a Texas-themed photo that I've taken and you'll do the same on your blog about the picture of your choice. Then there will be a place for everyone to link-up so that we can all see each other's blog posts. I'd love it if you'd join us!

And of course, these are amazing pictures as usual, by the way!
